This is a great day trip to see Orvieto and Assisi, as it covers the highlights of each region and includes a wonderful lunch at a Tuscan farmhouse. If you have some extra time in Rome and would like to see other regions, this tour is well worth the time.

Not enough time in Orvieto. The tour guide was not knowledgeable, nor did he provide any historically insightful information. This was a quiet trip. Lunch was light, and consisted of the same meal we ate on the Naples and Pompeii tour.

The tour guide was informative and low key, just what I like. The driver was excellent, he knew his way around.

Took the day trip to Orvieto and Assisi from Rome. I was very satisfied. They picked us up from the hotel on time, transported us to the office in Rome where we got on another bus and headed to Orvieto as our first stop. Orvieto is a lovely town up in the Umbrian hills. I wish we could have spent more time there. Our next stop was for lunch at a restaurant that also gave us some food samples and wine. The lunch was very good, the people at the restaurant were warm and welcoming. We continued onto Assisi and it was a wonderful experience to visit the Basilica of St. Francis, and walk the winding narrow streets of this old town. We also visited the Church of St. Clare and a third church where St. Francis actually built a chapel, and this magnificent cathedral was built around it. The guide who was with us all day was a lovely man who pointed out different sights along the way. The local guide in Assisi was extremely nice as well and I am glad that I had the opportunity to visit these two very special places in Italy.

Going in a small van with a small group (~10) rather that a 50 person bus made this trip more enjoyable for us. The tour guide did a good job, although more insights on the churches would have been better. The local guide hired in Assisi could have been better. She pretty much walked down hill straight through without giving us any insights along the way.

Gracious and knowledgeable tour guide. Loved the Tuscan lunch and the visit to the local winery.

It would have been much better to skip Orvieto and just go to Assisi. The guide was useless, gave us a map of Orvieto as we were getting back on the bus. It was all too much of a rush. The lunch at the 'local farm' was acceptable but they charged like wounded bulls for all the drinks, 4 euro for a large coca cola and the staff were surly and rude. The guide at Assisi was fabulous, probably the highlight of the tour. He was very informative and funny. Assisi is definitely worth a visit.

Enjoyed both sites, that part was excellent. Lunch was a waste and extra driving, small van used was very rough and tended to make you car sick, better if had been a full bus group.

The trip to Assisi was great. The problem was that it was too short! I think that one could leave the Orvieto part out of the trip and allow us to spend more time in Assisi. There were lots of neat stores of there, and we never really had any opportunity to visit any of them. Our tour guides were less than interested in their job. The guide told us just enough to make sure that we knew he was there on our drive to Assisi. He was not really outgoing or friendly. The bus driver nearly fell asleep several times on the drive back. My wife started up conversations with others just to help keep him awake with the chatter. Our host at Assisi got into a verbal argument with the guide threatening to withhold his voucher so that the Assisi guide would not be paid. Assisi itself is a must see. On the bus, the air conditioning was minimally functioning. Given that it was very warm outside, this made things uncomfortable. Overall, Assisi was great but way too short, and Orvieto was not needed. Lunch was fair at best.

OK tour, but more time is needed in both towns. To make the tour better, I would suggest skipping the wine-tasting lunch stop and have the lunch in either Assisi or Orvieto to allow more time there. Also, the guide could have told us more about the areas we traveled through.

This tour was a disappointment because I thought we were going to be in Tuscany as the ad stated, but we were actually in Umbria. Orvieto was beautiful for all twenty five minutes of it. The winery was beautiful, but the food was not very good. We did not get a salad or dessert, as we did on our other tour. The wine tasting consisted of one red and one white wine, and since you cannot carry liquor onto the plane, there wasn't any point in purchasing. Assisi was beautiful, but again it would have been nice to spend more time roaming. We could have gotten that time if we did not visit the church after Assisi. We were given half an hour just to visit that church.

We only had 25 minutes in Orvieto, time enough to use the restrooms. We would have loved to roam around this lovely town, but it was off to lunch at the winery, where we tasted only one white and red wine, and while it was very good, you can no longer carry liquor on board the plane, so we were hesitant to purchase. The lunch left a lot to be desired. The pasta was very dry and could have used more sauce; you got half a potato and a slice of pork, no dessert. The winery was beautiful but in the US Napa and Sonoma have beautiful vineyards too. Assisi was very beautiful, and while we had time to roam around it wasn't very much. After Assisi, we made another stop at a church for a half an hour. It was not necessary; I felt that this time time could have been used at the beginning of our trip in Orvieto. I must say that because we did not rent a car, this was our only opportunity to visit this area.

The tour SHOULD have been wonderful. We had an absolutely lousy tour director. He was rude and spent all his time talking to the driver. Didn't point anything out, seemed too busy to bother with us. The driver scared the hell out of us turning to talk to the tour director and talking with both hands. But both Orvieto and Assisi were magnificent and if you are lucky enough not to get bum staff it is well worth the price of the tour.

The reason we took the tour was to see the towns of Assisi and Orvieto. We saw them, but at lightning speed! Only a little over half an hour at Orvieto and just over an hour at Assisi. Most disappointing. Stopping at a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere for nearly two hours for lunch was a complete waste of time. The coach, driver and tour director however, were first class - no complaints.
