Definitely worth doing

Gracious and knowledgeable tour guide. Loved the Tuscan lunch and the visit to the local winery.

OK tour, but more time is needed in both towns. To make the tour better, I would suggest skipping the wine-tasting lunch stop and have the lunch in either Assisi or Orvieto to allow more time there. Also, the guide could have told us more about the areas we traveled through.

Assisi was a very interesting and special place.

This tour was a disappointment because I thought we were going to be in Tuscany as the ad stated, but we were actually in Umbria. Orvieto was beautiful for all twenty five minutes of it. The winery was beautiful, but the food was not very good. We did not get a salad or dessert, as we did on our other tour. The wine tasting consisted of one red and one white wine, and since you cannot carry liquor onto the plane, there wasn't any point in purchasing. Assisi was beautiful, but again it would have been nice to spend more time roaming. We could have gotten that time if we did not visit the church after Assisi. We were given half an hour just to visit that church.

We only had 25 minutes in Orvieto, time enough to use the restrooms. We would have loved to roam around this lovely town, but it was off to lunch at the winery, where we tasted only one white and red wine, and while it was very good, you can no longer carry liquor on board the plane, so we were hesitant to purchase. The lunch left a lot to be desired. The pasta was very dry and could have used more sauce; you got half a potato and a slice of pork, no dessert. The winery was beautiful but in the US Napa and Sonoma have beautiful vineyards too. Assisi was very beautiful, and while we had time to roam around it wasn't very much. After Assisi, we made another stop at a church for a half an hour. It was not necessary; I felt that this time time could have been used at the beginning of our trip in Orvieto. I must say that because we did not rent a car, this was our only opportunity to visit this area.

The tour SHOULD have been wonderful. We had an absolutely lousy tour director. He was rude and spent all his time talking to the driver. Didn't point anything out, seemed too busy to bother with us. The driver scared the hell out of us turning to talk to the tour director and talking with both hands. But both Orvieto and Assisi were magnificent and if you are lucky enough not to get bum staff it is well worth the price of the tour.

The reason we took the tour was to see the towns of Assisi and Orvieto. We saw them, but at lightning speed! Only a little over half an hour at Orvieto and just over an hour at Assisi. Most disappointing. Stopping at a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere for nearly two hours for lunch was a complete waste of time. The coach, driver and tour director however, were first class - no complaints.

The guide was personable but marginal. Lunch was rather pathetic, as was the "wine tasting," which was one ounce of one wine. I loved the towns!

Lunch wasn't good enough, and the guide didn't guide enough.

These were interesting places to visit. Orvieto and Assisi should be separate trips. Combining them in one day is too much. This particular tour only gave us about an hour to see Orvieto. By the time we saw the inside of the church, went to the bathroom and found something to drink, there was no time left! Assisi was similar. We started walking on one end of the tour, then visited the main square area and church. We thought we would be given at least an hour to check out some of the shops, but instead we went on the see Cathedral of St. Francis. I really feel that this excursion should be reevaluated!

Assisi was very pretty and interesting to see. Orvieto was nice, but smaller and lacking some of the charm of Assisi. Overall, the tour was pretty good but felt a bit rushed since much time is spent driving to and from Rome and the sights. The tour guide was polite, but offered little useful information during the tour. However, the local Assisi tour guide was excellent during that piece of the tour. The lunch break at the agro-tourism locale was a waste of time, and nothing more than an opportunity to get tourists to spend money on overpriced local products found more cheaply in Rome. The meal they provided offered no choice and was average at best, plus the drinks not included were overpriced.

The design of the tour was great, including where to visit and the time allotted. But the guides were not enthusiastic, even the young local guide in Assisi. They were lethargic and appeared bored. Our driver was excellent.

Local tour guide in Assisi did a fine job. We much enjoyed lunch en route, and on the drive to Rome from Assisi we passed some marvelous scenery. While the time we spent in Orvieto and Assisi was very worthwhile, the guide who accompanied the bus tour - who did not seem knowledgeable - strangely passed out maps of Orvieto and Assisi only after we'd completed each of those legs of the tour. We could have had a better experience if we'd had the maps before visiting each site.

This was a nice day spent. We are glad we did the tour. We throughly enjoyed the cities and seeing the sights, but thought the tour itself could have been more in-depth.

Great places to visit. Beautiful cities, however not enough time to do both in one day. Need one day each place. Definitely a must-see! But, we had a horrible guide. Said very little and left us with out information other than when we were to return to the bus.
