excellent guide - fantastic locations - light meal in frascati with the local frascati wine was a brilliant end to the itinerary
We liked all the tours and this one as well. I think it took a bit more than a half day and there was a lot to see. We did not actually tour a castle. It was a drive buy. We had a lunch provided and wine at a nice resturant. It was not a winery as we thought when signing up. Read the tour offering closely. Everyone was pretty happy on the way back as you could drink all you wanted.
Omg this was a great tour, very scenic and we could not believe the food and wine they served. Restaurant owners where wonderful. Would highly recommend this tour
This tour was absolutely fabulous. We were picked up on time, driven to the tour facility, greeted by the tour guide who was amazing, knowledgeable, informative, and most of all very entertaining! I would recommend this tour to anyone staying in Rome for a few days.
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wine and food servered. Guide was wonderful
Great tour to the Castelli Romani! A nice change from the hustle and bustle of Rome, this is certainly a must do! Lovely lunch included, beautiful views of the Roman countryside and Lake Albano.
This tour was very enjoyable. It was nice to see another part of Italy outside of Rome. The wine and delicious food in Frascati was an unexpected treat on this tour.
Very interesting itinerary and Kathleen our guide was excellent.
This was a lovely way to spend an afternoon exploring the area out side of Rome. I had never heard of Castelli Romani but was looking for a way to experience some of the countryside around the city. The views of the charming hilltop towns were lovely, and it was nice to stop to get a view of the Pope's summer residence of Castelgandolfo from Lake Albano. The highlight was a walk through the town of Frascati with a stop for a lovely snack and local white wine. I look forward to visiting the area again!
Great half day tour. Perfect if you want to leave the hectic Rome crowds and see the countryside
The guide was well informed and interesting. We found the trip to be a welcome break from exploring urban enclaves. The stop at Lake Albano was a delight but the highlight was the stop at Frascati. The local food prepared for us was outstanding, and strolling through the small town in the late afternoon gave a welcome window on local style. Good value for the money.
The tour was fine. The Frascati visit was more than anticipated - we thought we would get snacks with the wine tasting, but it ended up being a delicious full lunch. I think if they added a trip to Castelgandolfi, the tour would be even better. However, it is a good way to get out of the city and enjoy some of the countryside.
This trip is well worth the price and time. It provides historical perspective and a sense of Italia outside the confines of the busy urban setting in Rome. Frascati wine-tasting and dinner were excellent. Our guide was very hospitable and helpful, attentive to all tour participants. She switched flawlessly between English, French and Spanish, so all could understand in their own language. The tour description might be clearer if it indicated that Castelgandolfi is viewed only from outside and primarily at a distance.
This was an excellent tour but I wish we could have spent more time walking around in the towns we stopped at. The tour guide was very good!
Loved the whole tour, tour leader was professional and moreover food was beautiful at Frascati.
We enjoyed the tour very much. The guide was very informative and made the tour interesting. The meal in Frascati was unexpected, but was very enjoyable. We would certainly recommend the tour to those wishing to get away from the bustle of the city and learn a bit of history of the surrounding are.
Good professionally conducted tour, with interesting and informative commentary. If some kind of tour of each of the villages was possible, instead of the food and wine provision, this may be an alternative. Would recommend.
We saw lovely scenery and had an interesting guide.
The view of Castelgandolfo was from a distance and while traveling; it would have been nice to at least get some pictures!
This was a lovely way to get out of Rome and see a bit of the countryside around you.
Trinidad and Tobago
We did not actually visit any castles on this tour; the name is very misleading. But the bus drive was worth it to actually see outside of Rome proper. Plus, the quaint town with the wine tasting was charming.
Note from Viator: Castelgandolfo, Frascati, Rocca di Papa and Grottaferrata belong to an area known as Castelli Romani. In English this term translates to "Roman Castles", but the sites visited are not castles or buildings rather a group of small medieval villages. Thanks for the feedback, and we reverted back to Italian to avoid future confusion. If you would like to see the area on a map, click here http://www.itwg.com/area9157.
