Alessandeo was a fantantastic host We were able to catch most sights in a limited time lunch was fun
an extra effort was made so a quick shop could get squeezed in We were picked up from our cruise boat
and delivered back in good time only regret so little time and so much to do will have to return.
Marco was an excellent guide for our day in Rome. He took us to his office to purchase skip the line tickets for the Colosseum which saved us a lot of time. We were able to take in all of the attractions we wanted to in the time we had from our cruise ship and we had time for a gellato stop before we left the city.
Our tour guide was fantastic - intelligent, well-informed and entertaining!! My only suggestions would be to inform tourists that special arrangements are needed to fully experience all the sights - we missed out on the Vatican/Sistine Chapel, because we didn't know we needed special tickets for admittance. Also - the Trevi Fountain was a disappointment because of repairs/maintenance.
A fantastic trip made all the better by our driver and guide, Massimo, who was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about all of the sights we visited. He also recommended a really good place for lunch. Our daughter has a wheelchair and this was accommodated without problem. So pleased we decided to book this trip and do Rome this way from our cruise ship rather than going on a bus.
Our guide was great, very informative and friendly. He went the extra mile for us and seemed to really care about us having a good time. We loved Rome, and really enjoyed our time there. Thanks Viator!
Our private tour driver for the day was "Luigi". He was friendly, polite, and extremely knowledgeable about the area. Upon getting into the spotless and fairly new van, he asked what we would like to see and do for the day. He took us to every place we wanted to see - the Colosseum, the Vatican, etc. The best site we experienced that day, however, was one we didn't even know about...the burial place of the apostle Paul! He asked if we would like to stop to see it, and we were all excited. We had two 18-year old girls in our group who were wearing tank tops and short shorts. Luigi told us how the girls needed to cover up their shoulders and upper leg areas so as to be respectful as we looked around in the burial site and church. He showed us where they kept free "coverings" for such needs which we helped the girls use to cover themselves. (I also had shorts on, but mine were long enough, I guess.) He also took us to a couple of surprise places we would never have found ourselves - or be able to go to with a large group. For lunch he recommended a little family-owned Italian restaurant that "locals" used and would not be crowded with tourists. It was a little hard to communicate with the owner/server at times, but we got through it. Food was great. I would highly recommend Viator for any of your tour and/or transfers in the future.
Also, a little side note for USA people visiting Italy for the first time (like I was).....the driving in Italy was crazy compared to what we're used to! :)
We had a good English speaking tour guide , and he took us to see a lot of special places in Rome .
Very fun, you get the Italian effect the minute you get into the car. Would highly recommend
There is no other way to see Rome! We met our driver in a comfortable Mercedes and off we went. He was extremely knowledgeable. We told him we had never been to Italy, and he could show us everything. We both have trouble walking, so he drove us right to entrances. Great day! I highly recommend. Worth the money! The restaurant he picked was better than excellent.
Johnny picked us up in the cruise port. He asked us what we want to do and see in Rome. So being it a one day tour and our first time we asked his recommendations. First he brought us to the Vatican Museum. Very fortunately that we arrived early as there were no lines at all. We got in very easil and fast to the tickets place. Then we tour the Museum and of course the Sistine Chapel. After that we had an small lunch as we suggested since we have limited time. Johnny took us to a little pizza place. It was ok. The he took us to famous Trevi Fountain and Novana Square. He was very informative and give us overview of each places and some history. He was funny too! We also went to the He then brought us to the Coliseum. We told him that we want to walk inside the coliseum, he just made a phone call and got us a no wait in line tickets. We had a good 1-2 hours to tour the Coliseum before going back to the cruise ship. We had a great time on this tour and Johnny made it happen. I wish to thank you again Johnny and hope we can visit Rome again since I threw 1 coin in the Trevi fountain. :-)
This is the only way to see Rome. Our tour guide Johnie was superb. The only disappointment was we did not have enough time at the Basilica because of the long line up to get in. We went on a Wednesday when the Pope says mass so we had wanted to go first thing in the morning but had to change it to the afternoon as the mass was going on in the morning. I would recommend this tour to everyone. As there was 4 of us we were able to get up close and down back roads to the attractions where as a big bus would not be able to get as close. We did 5 tours on our cruise and I would rate this one as the best.
