What You Can Expect

Frascati Wine Tasting Tour from Rome

Sample fine wines from the Frascati region during your winetasting tour

After hopping aboard your coach in Rome, head out of the city with your guide, and admire the scenery as it changes from urban to rural. Travel through the hilly region of Castelli Romani, passing by olive groves and centuries-old vineyards where wine has been made since the days of Ancient Rome.

Reaching the Frascati region, you’ll arrive at the Principe Pallavicini estate, where the Pallavicini family has been making wine since the 17th century. Tour the property to learn about the different stages of wine production, from grape to bottle, and hear about the evolution of winemaking techniques through the years.

Visit the wine cellars, which date back to the 3rd century, and learn about the acacia and French oak barrels that age the fine wines produced here, many of which have won awards such as the Decanter World Wine Award and Vinitaly Cangrande Award. Then head to the 17th-century farmhouse for your tasting session with a sommelier, who helps you to notice different fruit flavors of the wines. You’ll sample one of the estate's red wines, such as Casa Romana or Soleggio, a white wine such as Poggio Verde and a dessert wine, Stillato.

At the end of your winery experience, your tour ends with the drive back to Rome.

Our tour guide Luca was fantastic! He was very knowledgable about the area and provided some history along the way. It isn't wine making season so the vineyard was inactive but it was interesting to see how the wine is stored. We had a grand time sampling 4 different wines! I would highly recommend.

After a few days of being in the city, it was nice to take a trip in to the country side and see the lovely rolling hills filled with vineyards and olive groves. Rebecca, our tour guide, was knowledgeable about the area, the wine, and gave good tips on the city. The vineyard itself was lovely and even better, the wine was AMAZING! we learned a lot and even brought a few bottles home. highly recommended

This was an amazing experience right outside the center of Rome. Rebecca our tour guide was super nice and knowledgeable of the history of Rome, the winery, the wines, and Italian! I would certainly do this tour again and highly recommend going if you can. We bought some amazing wine too.

Trip was an hour out of Rome in a comfortable bus no rest room - go before you leave -- wine fermentation under a Roman Aqueduct was really neat. Explanations by guides was top notch and the wines were excellent 4 full glasses -- worth it only complaint is that Viator charged credit card twice for two people so watch for that -- worth it at twice the price but they are managed from afar and hard to get credit back
