Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este Half-Day Trip from Rome. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
Two simply amazing villas and so totally different - the tours were very well organised and the tour leader was a mine of information - obviously loved her job. We learnt such an enormous amount of extremely interesting historical data.
Thank you very much. - Have recommended this trip to our friends.
Wonderful time at Hadrian's villa and villa d'Este. Magical mysterious place, so interesting to see, a hidden gem and must see. Though I would recommend going for the full day tour, as half day is quite rushed but if short on time you still do see and experience this beautiful place. All my tours from Viator always leave right on time and according to schedule
Hadrian's Villa - the ruins were amazing....just like all the many other ruins I had seen throughout Italy. Villa d' Este was incredible. The waterfalls, fountains and grounds were breathtaking.
One of the mother beautiful places I've ever been. They need to give you more time here. The 45 min to an hour you get literally had us running from fountain to fountain.
Viator needs to be more mindful of disclosing the tour operator before you book. This tour was by a local tour operator who has less than 3 star ratings on almost every trip, where the tours booked in Denmark and Ireland had all 4 or 5 star ratings.
An absolutely fabulous trip. Both locations were the best sights we experienced in Rome. The beauty and history blew us away. Do not miss this trip...a great value...definitely worth it! In general, we found Rome way too insanely crowded, but going to these places is like a breath of fresh air...bravo Viator!
Great half day trip from Rome. Hadrian's villa was impressive but the fountains at Villa d'Esta were awsome!
Our guide was very informative. There were no crowds, which was so nice. The Villa d'Este, was beautiful.
Hadrian's Villa was good, it's quite ruined now except the most modern bit with the pool at the end which was very nice
nice. Villa d'Este was amazing everything still as it was when it was built. Could have done with another 30:00 minutes to have a better look around but still worth doing.
I am giving this tour five stars with a warning to the reader. If you have the time and money, consider doing the full day tour instead. Both villas are absolutely astounding in their beauty, and you will want to spend as much time seeing the ruins in Hadrian's Villa and exploring the gorgeous gardens of Villa d'Este. My husband and I rushed to see everything we could on this tour, and would've preferred the day trip to explore at a more leisurely pace.
Still, this is not a bad tour in the least! Our guide showed us the best that Hadrian's Villa had to offer, and gave a short tour of the gardens of Villa d'Este before letting us explore on our own. If you only have the time to do a half-day trip, you won't want to miss this for the world. Absolutely stunning locations you wont see anywhere else. It's a great mix of history and beauty you will love, and you'll fill your camera with many photos from these places.
Excellent trip. A little rushed an extra half-hour in Tivoli would have been nice, to have a coffee or icecream, or a chance to shop but a great way to see two outstanding sites, with knowledgable and friendly multilingual guides.
What a great tour! Loved hearing about the history. The waterfalls were great amazing place, a must place to see.
This was probably one of my favorite sites due to the uniqueness of the things to see.
The tour was really good. The Guides are very good and the Villa de Este and the Hadrian's Villa are very pretty.
A very pleasant day in Tivoli. It was great to escape the heat of Rome and see some greenery.
Hadrians castle was amazing well worth the walk around the ruins of this great estate. Villa d'Este was beautiful, I have never seen so much clear running water and fountains in the one place. A lovely afternoon.
We enjoyed the tour very much! Both Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este was unforgettably beautiful and special.
The tour was well planned and organized.
I had a whole review written but viator decided to eat it because I wasn't logged in or something ridiculous like that.
This is a fabulous tour. The only negative thing that I have to say is that the directions to the meeting point could be much, much better. We almost missed the tour because of that. If it hadn't been for a delay in hotel pickup for some other guests than we would have missed it.
One of the best things about this tour was the tour guide. I wish I could remember her name. She is supremely gifted with languages. On our tour there were English, Spanish and French speakers. She gave the tour in all three languages. My dad and I were both very impressed.
Another great thing about the tour is that it takes away the major hassle of trying to figure out how to get to both locations on ones own. It can be done but the potential for wrong turns and lost time is quite high.
The star of the tour was most definitely Hadrian's Villa. My dad and I could have easily spent a couple more hours there but that's just because it's right up our alley. This tour nicely balances a short guided tour portion with free time for exploration and shopping. The shopping is primarily in the little shops right outside Villa d'Este in Tivoli.
I highly recommend this tour.
It was superb, most definitely - a must to see, gives you completely different perspective on Rome, and architecture of Rome. Knowledgeable tour guide, friendly and gorgeous views. Tivoli is a beautiful town. Villa Hadtian and Villa d'Este were one the highlights for us. Recommended.
