I had a whole review written but viator decided to eat it because I wasn't logged in or something ridiculous like that.
This is a fabulous tour. The only negative thing that I have to say is that the directions to the meeting point could be much, much better. We almost missed the tour because of that. If it hadn't been for a delay in hotel pickup for some other guests than we would have missed it.
One of the best things about this tour was the tour guide. I wish I could remember her name. She is supremely gifted with languages. On our tour there were English, Spanish and French speakers. She gave the tour in all three languages. My dad and I were both very impressed.
Another great thing about the tour is that it takes away the major hassle of trying to figure out how to get to both locations on ones own. It can be done but the potential for wrong turns and lost time is quite high.
The star of the tour was most definitely Hadrian's Villa. My dad and I could have easily spent a couple more hours there but that's just because it's right up our alley. This tour nicely balances a short guided tour portion with free time for exploration and shopping. The shopping is primarily in the little shops right outside Villa d'Este in Tivoli.
I highly recommend this tour.
It was superb, most definitely - a must to see, gives you completely different perspective on Rome, and architecture of Rome. Knowledgeable tour guide, friendly and gorgeous views. Tivoli is a beautiful town. Villa Hadtian and Villa d'Este were one the highlights for us. Recommended.
We loved this tour! We followed this with a 21 day cruise, and after all those tours I still regard this as possibly the best. Great guide, able to give info in several
Languages, pick up from our hotel. Good value.
I am a Hadrian fan so seeing his Tivoli villa was awesome, but must say Villa d'Este was an unexpected surprise what a great half day tour. Luckily for us the weather was beautiful and absolutely no crowd to deal with at either location. A win, win!!
This tour was excellent, could have spent more time at Hadrian's Villa as it is so vast.
Villa d'Este was well worth the visit and the water gardens were breathtaking.
The guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
Overall excellent trip and highly recommended.
Touring the town of Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este gave us a chance to see more than the usual "Top 10 Tourist Attractions of Rome!" The Villas are incredible, especially the gardens with all of the fountains. I was also especially impressed by our very knowledgeable and linguistically talented guide who provided explanations to our multi-linguistic group in English, Spanish and French. The view of Rome from the hilltop Villas and the short ride through the countryside were new views that enhanced this my third visit to Rome.
Excellent a good trip worth getting up early for. Great guide very friendly and good knowledge. Would visit gardens again, Well organised.
Wonderful tour. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The treck up the hill was a bit difficult but worth the effort. Villa D'este was wonderful.
The tour was very good, with hotel pickup. The guide gave us a comprehensive presentation on the two sites, showed us the main attractions and gave us enough time to see some things on our own. Especially for the villa d'este, we could see the gardens and fountains on our own, althoiugh for the Villa Adriana we would need more than 2 hours to tour the site as it is bigger! It;s a great way to see two very beautiful sites in one afternoon!
