What You Can Expect
Upon arrival in Florence, your time is yours to explore the city however you wish. The plethora of architectural and artistic masterpieces provides plenty of cultural entertainment, while attractions like Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens offer lovely views and landscapes. If you’re into art, you don’t want to miss the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David sculpture. And a walk through the city center isn’t complete without a stop at the Florence Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori) to climb up Brunelleschi’s Dome.
When your time in the city ends, meet up with the group at Piazza del Duomo for the return train ride to Rome, where your day trip concludes.
Optional upgrade for guided tour:
When booking, you have the option to upgrade your day trip to include a 1-hour walking tour, which ensures you won’t miss Florence’s must-see sights, such as Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, the exterior of the Duomo and Porta Paradiso. You’ll learn about the rich cultural history of the city, plus enjoy skip-the-line admission to the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most famous art museums in the world, where you can admire Renaissance icons such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Annunciation. Lunch at a local restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce is also included with the upgrade option; after lunch, you have about two hours of free time before returning to Rome.
The experience was smooth from start to finish. I do however strongly encourage taking the full guided tour - though we enjoyed exploring on our own, adding context to what we saw would have been that much more meaningful!
Excellent tour and guide. Very knowlegable and very nice. Add The Accademia Gallery to tour. Everyone was on their own to find it and get in. We all wanted to see David and did, but not included in tour.
What can I say about a 4 hr time saving?
Awesome! We did the independent trip and it had enough structure to get us there but all free time to do as we liked.

Awesome tour!!!! Our guide was very knowledgeable. We did the independent tour as we wanted to go at our own pace as well as do things like climb the bell tower, see David, etc... It was cold and rainy all day in Florence, but still spectacular. No lines whatsoever - it was AWESOME. If you go in January, take rain boots. I just had tennis shoes on and i regretted it. My feet were soaked the entire time.
Another unforgettable trip with Viator! Our guide, Palmira, was friendly/informative and looked after as so well. We thoroughly enjoyed the 'high speed' train journey to Florence. A lovely 'touch' was the Italian breakfast when we arrived in Florence. We had a lot of free time in which to explore the beautiful city of Florence. One of the many high-lights of our 'Day in Florence' was our guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery - our guide's knowledge of the artworks was exceptional.
Very well organised, with friendly and helpful guides, especially as they spoke english.
