Great trip, Mara was an excellent tour guide as was Franco. Prepare yourself for a long day. Pick up was very early but stop at rest area for food and bevearges each way was nice break.
Loved this tour! My complaints are the ride in the mini bus in the morning from my hotel was very uncomfortable, I had to be picked up at 6:30am. When we were finished with the tour and at the last rest stop before entering Rome the guide told me I was going to be the last person dropped off because my hotel was closer to the airport vs. in Rome itself like all the other passengers. She also made me feel like it was out of the way for the bus driver and asked me if I wanted to do a Rome by night tour that night, take a taxi, etc. I started my day at 5:30am all I wanted to do was get back to my hotel. I got nervous at one point when it was just me and the bus driver because he went a "back way" to get to my hotel not the way the hotel's shuttle bus always took when going there from Rome. All was fine but I think you should know this if you stay at a property not in central Rome. If Viator does not want to pick folks up that are not in central Rome, tell us we need to find our own way to a central meeting point and take money off the price to allow us to do this. My guide in Pompeii was fantastic!! The restaurant in Pompeii where we all had lunch was great and having some time for ourselves to see the city of Pompeii was greatly appreciated. I would have liked a little time in Naples but the bus tour thru it was very informative, I would like to go back to Naples and spend some time there. The bus was very nice, clean and the driver was very safe. I really appreciated having the tour of the ruins of Pompeii done in just one language, vs. 2 like when on the bus itself. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see Pompeii, mentioning Naples is a bit of a tease since you don't get to do anything there but go to the waterside for a few mins to take some photos and a hurried tour of the city via bus before dropping off the folks taking the tour to Capri.
This was my third trip to Pompeii and I was still pleased that I took the trip. The guide was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Greenline Tours, the local tour guide associated with Viatour
Pompeii is amazing and so very well worth visiting. The tour itself was well organised and the guides were very well informed too.
This tour is so worth it!!!
Esp. we are first timers in this place. The tour guide are very accomodating and very informative.
To top it all....lunch is included int his tour.....its a full course lunch...from the appetizer, main course and dessert. With the price we paid for, ITS ALL WORTH IT....From beginning to the end of the tour!!!
Excellent tour of Pompeii. Would like to have spent more time at the site. Could have foregone the 10 minutes in Naples as it was a waste of time, especially as there was road rebuilding going on at the time. Our guide Wilma was very knowledgeable and had a pleasant manner.
The tour to Pompeii was very good. We got picked up from the hotel and brought back which was greatly appreciated. The multi-lingual guide for the bus was very good as well as the second guide inside the Pompeii ruins. Lunch was at a pleasant restaurant and the food was good. I particularly like historic places and ruins so I loved the experience. I would have liked to have more time to look and linger in some areas, but I understand that the number of visitors is so high that things have to keep moving. I would have appreciated a longer time in the ruins to savor and photograph more.
It was totally a nice, well organized tour. Some people may not find Naples very interesting but the short stay gives you a good idea about the city so that you will not include it in your future visit plans for Southern Italy. Nothing to say much about Pompei, just amazing ! All the inclusions and services (guides, lunch, coach, etc.) were quite satisfactory and no problem was experienced at all. I strongly recommend this combined tour to those with limited time; otherwise Pompei definitely deserves much more time and attention.
This was my favorite tour. The tour and tour guide were very interesting and the day went fast.
Excellent tour. I would recommend this tour to family and friends. Well worth the money.
The tour through Naples was short. It would be nice to be able to stop for even an hour to explore some of it. The Bay of Naples is beautiful even though there was fog and could not see the islands of Capri and Sorrento. It is amazing how the people in Pompeii built these amazing structures and listen to the history of this civilization. Worth every minute.
We absolutely loved our tour. The guide was 86 years old and had more energy then we did. Even though it was raining, it was interesting and fun. We each had our own listening ear pieces and it worked out beautifully. Lunch was at a nice little restaurant and the food was fantastic. Our only issue was the bus seats did not offer alot of leg room for my husband who is 6 ft 2in. He had to sit with his legs in the aisle. But the people we met on the trip made up for that and when offered different seating we declined. I was nervous about this trip because at the end of the trip we were to be dropped off at a central location and the driver surprised us and dropped everyone as close to their hotel as possible. We will absolutely use Viator again. Bonnie and Paul Corey ( Pompeii Oct 5th, 2013)
Tour was fun and informative. Guide could speak several languages! Very impressive
