Very enjoyable tour, but finished at the Vatican at 11.30pm and had to get taxi back to accommodation as too late for metro. Great sights and good value.
This was not a success for me. It was late getting started - thanks to some inconsiderate people - the narative was hard to follow as it switched from English to German. The most impotant part for me was the Trevi Fountain so this was not a total loss.
This is a nice tour to see the Colosseum at night. If you don't have any other plans then I would suggest this program.
On reflection this tour was not for us. Too much talking on the bus by other participants made it impossible to hear what our guide was telling us. As walkers we found it better to visit all these places on foot by ourselves.
They said it would be in English. It was . . . and Italian, German, and Spanish. Although I was much impressed by the guides language skills as she repeated everything in each of the four languages, the part I could follow was too slight to make it worth the time or cost. A fully English tour would have been better; and I am certain our guide knew enough to make it worthwhile.
On the positive, the tour company sent a rtaxi to pick us up at our hotel and dropped us off after the tour.
It was nice to see Rome at night, but as stated in the description it is mostly a "drive by" tour. We did have enough time at the Trevi Fountain with enough time for a gelato.
Bototm line, it did serve our purposes during our short stay in Rome.
Would have been more interesting if the guide could speak english better. On our way back she left the bus before all the passengers were dropped which I found was not very professional.
Rome is just not that great at night. Many of the key sights were not that well lit at night (maybe this is because our trip was in the middle of winter) The tour was conducted in english and French.
Bit disappointed. A lot of the monuments were very dark and with the tinted coach windows meant that you couldnt really see alot, my advise , wait and see it all in the daylight. Saving grace was the Trevy Fountain, beautiful whenever you see it.
extremely unorganised. the sights are great but it just wasn't worth the money to be mucked about by these guys
I called to confirm this tour and had some problems with the language barrier. I told the company that I would probably not be able to make the pick up time but I don't think they understood - so they tried to pick me up at that time. I missed it but they were nice enough to leave me a message, they'd be back the next day and I could take the tour then.
The tour itself was not good - the poor tour guide had to do all the commentary in three languages (thank goodness the Germans agreed to do English or it would have been 4). Which meant the first language got "In a couple of minutes on your right you should see..." and the last one got "a minute ago we passed..." Given how much there is to see in Rome, there were times where it was flat out impossible to figure out which ruin she was referring too. And forget asking questions!
Also, if a little more time had been paid to making sure everybody was ready to walk back to the bus from the stops (tour guide just started walking away) there would have been less time spent going back to find the lost folks who didn't happen to be looking her way when she left.
