The trip to Pompeii was great. It was easy to find the meeting plaza where the guides were there to great us and divide us into groups. the bus guides were friendly and had lots of interesting info to provide during the drive. The guide at Pompeii was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The hike to Mt Vesuvius was steep but worth the climb. Had great view of Naples and the bay. Our guides kept a close watch on us and were constantly counting to make sure everyone was together.
Our trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius was one of the highlights of our trip. There were 10 of us of which 5 were children ranging in ages from 10 to 15. They listed this tour and the one to the Colosseum as their favorite.
It sounded like it would be a very long day, but the spacious bus wih AC made the ride very pleasant. We had two wonderful guides who were knowledgeable, and so efficient. They gave us a short break for snacks, shopping, etc. when we got closer to Pompeii.
We were met by a special tour guide at Pompeii. I had been there 35 years ago, and was pleased to see the improvements and how much more there was to see. Our children were intrigued.
We were then taken to a restaurant for a delicious lunch. Loved that we were never rushed. Boarded the bus and headed for Vesuvius. The family hiked to the top of Vesuvius and were thrilled with this accomplished. We were dusty and hot, but were taken back to the rest stop for snacks, cleaning up, and shopping.
We got back to Rome about 8 PM. It was a memorable experience.
Viator made booking this tour painless. No glitches, delays, uncertainty. I booked other tours with them.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, our guide Violet was excellent and so was the guide who took us around Pompeii. He was excellent at explaining exactly what happened and was very interesting. i thoroughly recommend this tour.
My favorite day of the trip! The tour guides were wonderful, giving us lots of information on the ride down. The size of the group was just right, not making you feel like you were a herd of cattle being shuffled around. Pompeii is incredible and the hike up Vesuvius is something ill never forget!
Our trip to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius was fantastic! It was a fun excursion from Rome and was a long day, but wasn't exhausting. The tour was well-organized and went off without any hitches. Our tour guide, Mike from Dark Rome Tours, was extremely entertaining and informative. He went the extra mile to make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the trip. We (2 adults and our 8 y/o son) enjoyed this experience so much we booked another tour for the next day with Dark Rome tours. We highly recommend this tour!
Absolutely amazing! The meeting point was easy to find (I took the metro line). The tour guides (two ladies whose names have unfortunately escaped me) were lovely and very knowledgable. The hike was great though discouraging until you reach the first "rest stop"; the included pizza was delicious too
This tour is well worth the money! The day was very well organised and the tour guides Louise and Sarah were great and really knew their stuff. We got plenty of time to look around the sites although comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended as its a long day. We had a fantastic time and have great memories of the day.
Excellent day - guides were very informative, helpful and friendly.
This tour was well organized and our two guides were great. Knowledgable about the area and were interesting. Lunch was ok, pizza good, salad very bland, no salt or pepper available. We had the best guide at Pompeii!
Good day trip. Easy pickup meeting point and comfortable coach with professional guide. The mountain walk was interesting and not too strenuous and the visit to Pompeii was fascinating. Lunch was adequate at best.
The drive to Pompeii was entertaining. Massimo, the guide, was great. The bus was clean and air conditioned. Bernadette, Pompeii guide was knowledgeable. The town was amazing. Lunch was ok. I would stick with the margarita pizza. The walk to the top of Vesuvius was hot (It was August!) and difficult to get traction. You were walking on very fine crushed rock. My kids had a great time. Oh, your toilet break on the way down is the same toilet break place on the way back, so if you want to buy something wait until your trip back.
Our guide Mike was fantastic! He was SO knowledgeable and had such interesting stories about Roman history, Vesuvius, Pompeii, and everything in between! He was also VERY funny which really added to the whole experience. If I were to return to Rome, I would specifically ask to go on tours that he was on. He is THAT good. For Canadian, American, British and Aussie tourists - ask for the American tour guide from Orange County California. You will love him.
Two very good, informative and experienced guides (Violet and Sala) made it a very good experience for me and my wife :-)
This tour was just amazing. The staff from Dark Rome (the tour operators) were very friendly and definitely were knowledgeable. Luciana was our group leader, and she definitely knew her stuff. The tour to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius was spectacular and worth seeing by anyone.
