What You Can Expect
During the approximate 3-hour journey, your driver-guide will tell you about what to expect from the day. Then arrive at your first stop, the town of Amalfi, a former naval power now famous for its cliffside perch on the coast of the Tyrrenhian Sea. You have free time here to explore independently. Perhaps visit landmarks like the Cloister of Paradise (Chiostro del Paradiso), relax over a coffee or limoncello at a café (own expense) or take a walk to admire the Mediterranean architecture.
Next, head to Positano, stopping along the way for photo ops from the coastal road. Once again, you have free time in the village to get lunch (own expense) and explore on your own, enjoying views of the sea and hillside homes. Then meet back up with your guide to continue your day trip to Pompeii for a 2-hour guided tour of its World Heritage-listed ruins that were covered in volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. As you explore with your guide, learn about the discovery of the ruins in the 18th century and hear stories about life in the village during the days of Ancient Rome.
Your day trip then ends with the drive back to Rome.
This was our first tour in Rome after we arrived. Brando was our guide, and he was amazing! He was professional and constantly fed us information about where we were passing through, and took us to the best places on the Amalfi Coast. This is a small group tour. There were three couples. We loved how he referred to us as Dear Friends every time he started off his sentences. You can tell that he loves this region his hometown and that he loves his job! The tour of Pompeii was also very good. The tour guide was excellent there as well. I would highly recommend this tour and thanks so much Brando!!!
This is a great tour. It is a full day as we were picked up at 0700 and dropped off at 2100. Our guide Brando was very informative and kept us entertained. We saw a great deal of the Amalfi Coast and it was beautiful. The visit to Pompeii was interesting with a very knowledgeable guide. We only wish that we had seen more of Pompeii. Highly recommend!
this tour was very organized. We saw and did a lot in a small amount of time. It was very helpful that we were picked up for this tour versus having to find our way through Rome so early in the morning. Amalfi coast and positano are beautiful. Lots of shopping and good food at each place.
This tour was wonderful! It was a long day, but well worth it.
We had an excellent day on this tour. We were picked up on time from our hotel, and never felt rushed at any stage. It was an extremely long day, but very enjoyable. Our driver Khan? was very attentive and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves, and our Pompeii guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. It was great going to Pompeii in the afternoon as we avoided the crowds from the cruise ships.
This was our favorite part of our trip to Italy. Our tour guide Giovanni was the best! He made the long car ride fun, and he filled us in on some history on our way through the Amalfi Coast. Positano and Amalfi were beautiful. Definitely do this tour!
Wonderful day trip out from Rome, thoroughly enjoyed Amalfi, Positano and a later visit to Pompeii. Great guide Hector took us around Pompeii and gave us an amazing experience. We had a small group and were given plenty of free time to explore. Had a rest on the way back as a long day out. Expensive but really wanted to visit the gorgeous Amalfi coast.
My family of 4 took this tour on Wed. June 1st. David picked us up right on time at 6:30am. He did a great job all day. He was very personable, informative and funny his singing is just OK, ha!. We enjoyed the 2 hour trip down to the Amalfi coast. Driving and stopping around the coast was breathtaking. Paying extra for the small group was well worth it.
After Amalfi, and around 3pm, we reached Pompeii and really enjoyed our tour although it was a little bit rushed. We actually had the same guide Hector as we did in 2000!! The Joe Pesci clone was better than ever!! All in all, a VERY full day, but also VERY fun!! Again, David was really engaging all day and we were all spent when we were dropped off at 9:30pm. Can't wait to do it again!
Our driver was excellent and we felt very safe on the winding coastal roads, even in some crazy traffic! He was funny and informative. The tour guide at Pompeii was also great -- so knowledgeable! My parents and I were so glad we did this tour, it was a very long day but worth it.
