The trip was fantastic! Initially we were disappointed we didn't have more time at Pompeii, or Amalfi for that matter, but considering it lasted from the 7am pickup until the 9pm drop off, I think it was just right.

The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and brought the city into perspective.

We really enjoyed our tour. The van picked us up on time, and the tour guides were very friendly. They were informative and took us around to amazing places. Pompeii was incredible and the Almafi coast was definitely breathtaking. Due to choppy waters, we didn't do the boat ride; however, we were completely satisfied with the day's activities.

We loved this tour and our driver. Having been to Pompeii and Naples before, I know what it's like to be on a bus with 50 people. There were only 8 of us on this tour and we avoided all of the tourist pit stops, i.e. the coral & cameo factory. We were able to drive the Amalfi coast into Positano and then the boat trip to Amalfi was a real plus. It was a wonderful day.

Our day trip to Pompeii and Amalfi Coast from Rome was absolutely wonderful. It was definitely worth doing. We wouldn't be able to see and to do everything that we did in one day without Viator. We are very thankful to our driver and guide. He was very professional and helpful. The tour in Pompeii was very interesting. The scenery of Amalfi coast were breathtaking. The boat trip was very pleasant. Overall the trip was very enjoyable, and we definitely will recommend to all our friends. Thank you very much!

Even though we were kind of crammed in the Van, our driver was funny and we sang to some good music. Our Guide at Pompeii was excellent. We had lunch at Chez Blacks in Positano and it was excellent. Since the road to Amalfi was closed that day we went to Sorrento for sunset and some brisk walking. I wished we had a little more time there, but the traffic on the coast is a little tough. Be patient and enjoy the beauty.

This trip was a beautiful drive down the coast and we really loved it. However, there are a few things you should be aware of before booking. If a road is closed down, you will not make it all the way down the coast. The day we went, it was very cold, so they could not get a boat, and the road was closed for some construction, so we could not get there by car. We made it as far as Positano, but then had to go back. Lunch in Positano was okay, not included in tour price. Probably the worst meal we had while we were in Italy, but we had really great food the rest of the trip, so maybe it just wasn't good by comparison. The driver took us to Sorrento since the roads were closed and it was beautiful. The trip to the ceramic factory really was not necessary. They just put you in a room with all these ceramic items and the owner starts going on about how he would ship anything you wanted, etc. I wasn't a fan of that. It was actually kind of awkward. Also, make sure you understand that your driver is just a driver. He is not really a tour guide. However, when you get to Pompeii, you get a real tour guide, who was amazing. He knew everything there was to know about Pompeii. Also, Pompeii was really an awesome thing to see. I couldn't believe how much of it was still standing. All and all, we loved this trip!! None of the issues mentioned really bothered us, but I just want to make sure everyone knows exactly what to expect before going. Also, it is a long day, so get a good nights rest the night before.

We started off horribly because I realized too late that I had forgotten to call to confirm our hotel pickup. My husband and I decided it was a loss, so we slept in. We were then woken up by the hotel guy and told there was a van waiting for us outside! So glad we didn't miss the trip!! We had little headphones so we could hear our guide, as our group was split between two vans. First we drove by Sorrento and saw some great views. Late May, early June is an excellent time to visit Amalfi, because there are gorgeous purple flowers that are in full bloom and seem to blanket the buildings! We had enough time for shopping and browsing, and our lunch was fun and yummy! The only surprising thing on our excursion was that we still had to buy tickets at Pompeii. However, our guide was great. Luckily we had a beautiful sunny day and got tons of amazing pictures. We also enjoyed the people in our group. We met others from the US, as well as Europe and Australia. I highly recommend this trip, but PLEASE read the info beforehand and call ahead like you are supposed to, so you don't end up being rushed and scummy all day!

It was AMAZING! The guides made the trip fun, relaxing and interesting. Our guide in Pompeii painted a picture of what life was really like before the volcano erupted. Because of this I had a better understanding of Rome itself. The Amalfi coast was absolutely beautiful! I found it inspiring and a must to see. It was a long day and we didn't get back to Rome until late but it was worth it.

Our day trip to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii was hugely enjoyable! However, we do have a few suggestions that might make it even more enjoyable.
First, we were in the van following the tour guide and had to listen to his spiel through walkie-talkies, which were terrible. Almost half of what we heard was static. Even though he was providing an almost constant stream of information, we were lucky to hear even half of it. There must be a BETTER WAY of communicating!
Second, it was an extremely HOT day, and the only folks receiving the benefits of the air-conditioning in the van were the three in the front seat. The rest of us pretty much sweltered. When the AC was on high enough to cool the entire van, then those three were too cold, and it was shut down. We suggest vans with individual AC control at each row.
Third, the restaurant in Amalfi was mediocre at best. As stated, it was a HOT day, and the AC was practically nonexistent. On top of that, the pizza left a lot to be desired. We suggest a choice of maybe 3 items for dessert, one of which would be a pasta. Surely this could be arranged without too much effort.
On the plus side, the eye-popping scenery of the Amalfi coastline was spectacular, and the photo-op stops were nice. The highlight of the day was the tour at Pompeii. We had a first-class tour guide, and he brought the history of that city amazingly alive. We hope to use Viator in future travels and would recommend you.
This was an outstanding tour. The guides were great and friendly, particularly the guide at Pompeii. I have travelled quite a lot, and this was one of my great experiences.
