It was awesome and both myself and my son loved it.

A truly excellent day of fun! Our legs really ached afterwards; they worked us quite hard, but we were given lots of drinks and snacks we were even given an Italian easter egg to eat and little cakes to take away. The leader's English was superb, as was his instruction.
It was a little hard to find as there appear to be two 18 Via Appia Anticas! For reference, it is not the one that has a door on the road with a museum sign; you have to go down a dusty track, which is opposite a bus stop.
If you have seen a lot of Rome already and want to do something a bit different and active, learn to be a gladiator!

It was a great work out, and a really nice break from all the museums. As far as getting there, we took a cab, then you have to walk down to the end of the dirt road and it is on the right hand side. After the lesson, we took a bus back to the Colosseum.

Gladiator training was the best activity of our trip! My advice is to take a taxi! We searched for 2 hours for the location! Finally we paid a taxi to lead us there! It was 100 worth the effort though!

This was my son's favourite thing on our entire Round the World trip. The guides spoke good English and were a wealth of historical knowledge. Difficult to find, get a taxi.
Note from Viator:
Gladiator School is a stone's throw outside the ancient walls of Rome, and 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the Colosseum. In the spirit of easy access - we suggest taking a taxi (approx. 10-15 euros) to access the school. If you prefer public transport take the Metro (Line B), get off at OSTIENSE and take Bus No. 118 or Metro (Line A), get off at stop SAN GIOVANNI and take Bus No. 218. The school is located at Appia Antica 18, 00179, Rome.
