What You Can Expect
The special open-air boats that operate hop-on hop-off tours along the Tiber River board at four places in Rome - Castel Sant’Angelo, Tiber Island (Isola Tiberina), Ponte Sisto or Ponte Cavour. After you board, enjoying the views of Rome as you drift down the river, relax and listen to the recorded audio explaining what you’re seeing.
Your 24-hour ticket allows you to get off the boat at any stop you like in order to explore, getting back on a later boat to continue your cruise. Hop off the boat at Tiber Island for a short walk to sights like the Colosseum and Roman Forum, or at Castel Sant’Angelo to see St. Peter’s Basilica and the rest of Vatican City.
If you stay on board the boat for an entire loop, the trip lasts roughly one hour. Boats arrive every half-hour at each stop.
Hop-On Hop-Off River and Bus
For an even more comprehensive look at the highlights of Rome, upgrade to combine a Tiber River cruise with a 24-hour hop-on hop-off bus ticket. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Rome from the top of an open-air double-decker bus as you travel between the city’s most popular attractions.
Join the bus tour at one of eight stops, getting off at any other stop to explore on foot or visit nearby sights. Disembark at the Trevi Fountain to toss in a coin that ensures a return trip to Rome, or at Piazza Venezia to take the elevator to the top of the Vittoriano monument for more excellent city views.
If you stay on board the bus for an entire loop, the trip lasts roughly 1.5 hours. Buses arrive every 15 minutes at each stop.

seeing an overview of rome via the hop on hop off bus was awesome! it was easy and convenient. a must do to see where you want to spend more time at.
What a great way to see the city from the river. It was so easy to take this tour. You can get on and off at any stop. There is a recorded message to give more history of Rome.
My friend and I had a wonderful time on the river hop on and off cruise. Over the 24 hours we were able to do a lot of sight seeing from the river, as well as rest our tired feet from walking! Would recommend this lovely way of seeing Rome - and getting a sun tan too!
Excellent trip trip had entire boat to ourselves with a good commentary.
Nice boat ride. Lots of steps down to the river, every time you get on and off. Not for those with mobility issues.
Very nice experience. we enjoy it.
The hop on hop off buses are extremely crowded and difficult to ever get back on. It was almost better to walk. The river boat only came once per hour, maybe because of the season. In order to get to the boat, one has to walk down a long flight of stairs that were wet from urine. It appeared that the vendors on the bridge used it for their bathroom! The boat did allow us to get to the Jewish ghetto area easily.
Very little signage to direct us to the area where we could board the boat - took us 2 hours of looking and being wrongly directed. Please improve your systems and include a map of how to get to the boat.
Once on board, it was a very relaxing afternoon but between only a few of the bridges - I would not do this tour again.
This was a short river cruise. Not a lot to see but brick walls along the banks. This is not wonderful like tours on the Seine or the Thame. I would put this low on a tour list of things to do in Rome.
state of riverbank is disappointimg i am sure more could be done by the authorities to make it more attractive this cruise is only worth doing if it is combined with the bus tour which was really good
