We did this our first day. My only regret was that I did not book it for two days. It was really the best way to see Rome, pretty much on your own but with transportation.

The open-bus tour is always a must when traveling; you get to see the town and get an idea of where everything is, and you get little facts about the city. We did the full route our first day in Rome and then used the bus as our main means of transportation. And why not? It stops at all the major sightseeing spots. And it is a lot easier to figure out than the regular crazy bus system in Rome. The attendants on the bus could be a little friendlier; we could have felt more welcome. Other than that, it is great, and I always recommend an open-bus tour.

This is the quickest and cheapest way to get oriented in Rome. Plan to do it on your first full day in the city, ride the full route first, then start hopping off. You will regret it if you don't buy the 48 hour package, 24 hours isn't enough.

This was an excellent experience for us. My wife suffers badly with arthritis in her knees and can only walk for about an hour at a time then rest. The Hop on Hop off facility was ideal and she especially enjoyed it and it was so practical for both of us.

This is such an easy and informative way to see a great city. The tour covers a vast area not easily walked in the heat. The number of hop-on-hop-off stops ensures you can see a variety of interesting historic sites. Excellent value for money.
