Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Rome to Pompeii Shuttle Bus & Independent Day Trip. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
The bus was comfortable, and the tour guide and driver were both friendly and thorough. Pompeii is a bit overwhelming to tour on your own in a half day, but they give you enough guidance to make the trip worth your while. I highly recommend this for people who are comfortable traveling independently and who don't mind not seeing all of Pompeii during their trip. Take a book with you it's a long enough drive!
Great experience. Would do again. Get the guided option. Our English speaking guide was knowledgeable and personable. Patricia our tour escort was punctual, precise and professional. She was always smiling on a very hot day. If you want a positive stress free trip to Pompeii from Rome this is it.
We liked everything about this day trip. The company seemed very well organized and the staff very friendly.
Great tour! Not only were the tour guides really friendly but I was travelling alone and made some great friends on the tour that day. They are the only tour that only goes to Pompeii from Rome, and they really let you make the most of the time you have to explore Pompeii. Highly recommend.
Wonderful trip and great organization. We loved the ruins and had a great time
Great day with 4 hours to visit Pompeii which was plenty of time. The host and bus driver were polite and provided us with information as necessary. It was nice to not have to worry about making our way there and back on public transport, and the bus was nice and air conditioned.
Good tour but the guide did not take us to the place i wanted to see
A great way to see Pompeii at your own pace. It was nice to just be driven there in an air-conditioned bus and back. It was a long day, but worth it.
Everything was perfect, the bus, bus driver, coordinator and tour guide!
This was one of our favorite trips while in Italy! We thoroughly enjoyed Pompeii. The shuttle bus was so comfortable and roomy, the leader on the bus was funny, happy and knowledgeable and made the bus trip fun. Our tour guide in Pompeii was just great and gave us so much info, all while being jovial and funny. We loved this trip so much!
We were very happy with our tour: both Patricia on the bus and Vincenzo our guide at Pompeii. Both had great humour and charm, we had lovely day. We left knowing so much more than when we arrived.
Our guide at the ruins was very, very good. Very informative and personable. Good bus driver
The tour is Gd. Both the main guide n the English speaking guide at Pompeii are very well informative
This your was fantastic for when you don't have a couple of days to explore Pompeii. Carmine our guide injected personality into the tour as he showed and explained to us the most important parts. Patricia and Andriano also ensured we made it there and back safely.
Extremely comfortable way to travel to Pompeii. Slight delay leaving due to the Rome rail system, but all the staff were extremely apologetic, clearly it was a one off. A wonderful trip
Very efficient and painless way to see Pompeii.
Rather than take the guided tour (which requires an up charge), we'd downloaded an audio guide. We wished we'd taken the tour. We spent a lot of time being lost, while the folks who took the tour, loved it.
Pompeii was amazing. Yes, it was a long drive from Rome, but it was worth every minute of it. We had a guide on the bus to Pompeii, she was helpful, however, she talked on the cell phone almost the whole trip from Rome to Pompeii. It became somehow annoying because she was quite loud. I understand her job was to ensure we get there safely and hand us over to the local guide, but...
BTW, the local guide was fantastic, his name is Francesco, I have made remarks on Tripadviser...
I chose the independent day tour and loved every minute. If you're like me and don't want to be rushed site to next site then you'll like to do the tour yourself. The negative is you might get lost in Pompeii and have to ask for directions.
Pro-tip: upon entering Pompeii entrance, go directly left for the first site which is a bathhouse. Then make your way up the main walkway to see the rest of Pompeii, that way you don't have to go back to the entrance area to see the first bathhouse!
