The only downfall was that the host on the shuttle service did not explain where we could pick up the guided tour when dropped off. Instead we paid our entrance fee to a rather angry attendant who could not speak English and offered no assistance.

Picked up promptly in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach and delivered safely to the site. While on board, our Viator rep gave us info about the site, Vesuvius and other points of interest. Based on how good the guides have been with Viator, I'd recommend taking the guided trip next time but this one did exactly what it promised and we were not disappointed!

Need to update the bus. It was very basic. Apart from that the trip was wonderful. Definitely recommended it to friends.

Tour operator was late in opening their office, most of the people taking the bus tour to Pompeii were at the office well before the tour operator opened up. Person on bus was an archaeologist who could explain all the details about Pompeii and had lots of guide books for Pompeii with him as well. Bus was comfortable, cool, and had a washroom break positioned half way both going to Pompeii and for the return. Had lots of time in Pompeii, 4.5 hours. Tour was very enjoyable and successful.

This service just takes you to and from Pompeii. It's a long trip but worthwhile if you are interested in just visiting Pompeii. We had a guide on the coach and he provided some commentary about Pompeii as we drove to the ruins. The coach drops you off at the front gate and picks you up 4 hours later. If you decide to use this service, we suggest either renting the audio guide or hiring a tour guide when you get to Pompeii. We chose the audio guide, which was good, but we would choose the tour guide if we ever go back. They provide a lot of background information that the audio guide does not.

The trip was as promised. They drove us straight to the ruins of Pompeii without the hassle of trying to figure out how to get there from the train station in Naples. The 4 hours in Pompeii was not really enough time to see everything, but I only had one day to do the trip. All in all, I was pleased with the experience and would do it again.

Very easy travel in both directions! A little unclear where we were to meet the bus to go back to Rome, happily our driver came and found us! It would be nice to have had a map that pointed us to the high points of Pompeii. I spent a lot of time searching them out, pretty confusing. Oh, remind people to take enough water in with them on those really HOT days!

Just what we wanted, a way to see Pompeii with good support but allowing us to go at our own pace and make our own decisions. Trip was exactly as described in the Viator literature. Bus was comfortable and the guide was personable and instructive. The bus ride back was, in fact, a great way to rest after a very eventful day. We really felt there was value for the money spent.

This is a very big place, and you will need a lot of endurance to keep going when the weather is hot. Bring lots of water. This is a wonderful place to see. Having a guide would be great for those who don't want to guess or go on their own.

Pompeii was wonderful! My elderly mother and I took a break from exhausting Rome to do this trip at the beginning of June. The weather was not great by Italian standards for the time of year, and so being a pleasant 25 degrees Celsius, we both could endure the lack of trees or shade that is Pompeii. Our pace was slow, however, and we didn't manage to cover everything, and we felt we could have done better with more time. The guide on the bus was an archaeology graduate and was extremely helpful and informative, the driver was very safe, and the bus was comfortable. The Roman Forum just didn't compare.

Great trip. The only trouble was that there were not enough English language tapes upon arrival, but that wasn't Viator's problem. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

This worked for us, because all we wanted was a ride out and back to Pompeii. If you were wanting a guided tour, this is not for you.
