Really good well managed tour. Unfortunately we could not visit St Peters Basilica, the Pope was preforming some official task. However our guide who was very good and ensured the rest of our tour was well covered and very informative.
Great tour, excellent tour guide!! Loved all the tidbits of information she gave us about the paintings in the Sistine Chapel before we went in. I believe her name was Scarlet. A wow worthy day!
Our tour guide Serena was an archaeologist - and boy did it show! She was fantastic - very organised, super smooth at getting everyone in to the areas we needed to be in and very effective in communicating with us. She provided an excellent balance between the 'fun stuff' and the factual/historical/structural information on the tour - it was lovely to have a guide who didn't just say 'here's a pretty painting' but could actually tell us who made it, when, how and why. Highly recommended tour - the Vatican is a massive place, and although you don't really get to move at your own pace (it's just a teeny bit faster than what we would have done on our own) you get to see everything you can possibly see, without the risk of getting lost or wandering around like sheep.
Thank you Serena for making our tour so awesome - your passion, knowledge and style were superb.
The tour was well organised and the guide was excellent. There was so much to see but I felt a guide was essential and it was well worth the money.
We had an awesome guide who had worked at the Vatican and knew so much about it! Check in was easy, and we learned so much. Seeing the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica is a must if you go to Rome!
Great tour bypassing long lines to Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's. The guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable providing much background and interesting tidbits.
Very well organised and informative. Would recommend this tour to skip the very long queues.
Our guide was very knowledgable as well as entertaining. We enjoyed it!
This was money well spent! We got so much information out of this tour!! I would avoid going on Wednesday - the day the Pope speaks - because the Basilica is blocked off until afternoon and you will miss that part of the "guided" tour, we where still able to stick around and go in on our own - which was horribly crowded.
it was worth all the money i spent! really really good. The tour guide - Mario - did a fantastic job. My 8 year old son followed all his explanations and that is the biggest compliment of all!
As always, Viator gave us an experience we won't soon forget. We arrived to the office to start our tour, waited just a few moments and then we were off to see the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and hte Basilica along with our very friendly and informative tour guide. As she looked a lot like Marisa Tomei too! Always love using Viator!!
Staff were polite and helpful. Michaelmas, our guide, was very knowledgeable and delightful.
Really enjoyed this tour. It was informative and explored the highlights of the Vatican. Emmanuella was our guide and she was really enthusiastic, passionate and entertaining throughout the tour. As a warning, in addition to the cost of the tour you pay to Viator, you also have to pay an additional 22 euros on the day as entrance fee to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
The tour was great, and the guide was knowledgeable and extremely interesting. However, St Peter's was closed that day which was disappointing. We were taken to a few extra rooms in the museum, but really had wished we were able to tour the basilica with the guide. Would use Viator Tours again.
We were skeptical about buying online, but the guided tour itself was worth the money. The Vatican would be much less exciting without our guide walking us around. We did indeed get to skip the long line into the Vatican -- walked right in without waiting at all. The special group entrance has a very short security line (under 2 min when we were there). You will have to pay the Vatican entrance fee, but overall the tour is very worth the price.
