Rome in August is simply hell in terms of tourist attractions and the lines that lead into them. My father and I were extremely happy to have booked this skip the line tour particularly after seeing the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel line and the massive St. Peter's line that stretched around the whole square.
In terms of the tour itself, I myself am a tour guide who has been known to by quite judge-y of other guides in the past, but our guide Max was great. His knowledge was exceptional and the way he expressed it was entertaining. He also possessed that typical tour guide humour, so expect a couple of cheesy jokes!
My father and I had a great time on the tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to skip the ridiculous lines and/or who would like to know more about what they are looking at.
Hotel pick up was on time. Skipping the line was such a bonus. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained the areas we toured very well. Great overview of the Vatican.
While instructions were spelled out clearly, I didn't realize the bus had come by our hotel to pick us up until the tour was over! We had never confirmed that we needed pick up, but certainly appreciated that option. But out guide was wonderful, and it is truly satisfying to be able to walk past the long lines and have special exits in certain places along the way specifically in the Sistine Chapel since we were with a tour group. Our guide was entertaining and very experienced and knowledgeable.
Pros: Our guide Emilia was very lively and funny. She took great care that no one in our group got lost and described each objective in detail.
Cons: the meeting point was a street away from the one described in the ad. But if you call them they will provide directions and help you.
Max was our guide and extremely interesting to moderate our group. This tour is a must see. We arrived at 8:00 and lines were double around the Vatican wall and we simply bypassed with the skip the line ticket and started our day tour immediately.
Beautiful experience. We were in and out and people were still standing in line. Worth it. The lunch was good and the servers were very nice. Went back the next day for lunch.
We really enjoyed this tour! For anyone who wants to see the museums and Sistine Chapel, you just cannot go without a tour. The lines are crazy long, and in the heat - miserable. Happily, much of this tour is inside, because the late spring/summer can be hot. Our guide moved us at a perfect pace for information, picture-taking, and pondering.
Wonderful tour but will be writing to you separately about issues to do with the management of the trip.
Absolutely wonderful! The guide was very knowledgable! ...going to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel is a must!
Awesome! My wife and I would definitely recommend it to our friends!
Excellent tour! Our guide, Massimo, was very well informed and kept an eye on his group in this busy, busy place. He answered many questions and had a good sense of humor too. The skipping of the line really helped us here.
Max the guide was excellent, informative and helpful. Not having to queue was wonderful. Thoroughly recommend this to other visitors to Rome
We paid for tons of tours and out of all the tours, this was the ONLY tour that we took that was worthwhile. The guide was awesome. Very funny and yet made sure you saw everything that you could ever hope to have seen during your time. I really was happy that this tour was on our itinerary because I was starting to think they were all terrible.
Absolutely amazing!!! No waiting in line and the #1 experience in Rome!
This tour was excellent much better than what I expected. The only down side was that after the tour we were not taken back to our hotels . They dropped us off at sights meant to be near our hotels , but some of us had really long walks in the dark and we were all very tired anyway.
Exceptional! We were very lucky that it wasn't hugely busy which increased the pleasure of this visit in Nov, and the fact that we took the 2:30 tour meant that when we came out it was dark and we saw the Vatican lit up. Our guide was very informative and helpful. Words cannot describe how awesome the Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum and St Peter's Basilica are.
From the booking perspective, it was not clear which hotels they pick you up from and in actual fact there were no hotel pick ups on our tour. Also, make sure you know where their office is locate to catch the bus to start the tour. They do drop people off at a few designated spots on the way back which was very helpful.
Awesome tour, thoroughly recommend it. :)
Very well organized and no waiting in line. Our guide, Franco, was very knowledgeable.
Max, our tour guide was fabulous! Skipping the line was well worth the money!
Absolutely amazing, breathtaking. The tour was wonderful and the guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this tour.
When you arrive at Vatican City and you see the long lines winding around the front you'll be glad you booked a skip the line tour in advance. The tour guide was very informative, we unfortunately had an annoying American couple that kept interrupting as the guide was speaking. The pictures you see of St Peters church doesn't do it justice you have to see it just to see how grand it really is!
