This tour was our favorite! The Vatican is a special place, built from the recycled antiquity left over from ancient Rome. It houses the vicar of Christ and many wonderful illustrations of man's devotion to God. Our guide was very well informed and presented herself as a true professional.

Our guides were excellent. The lunch break is the perfect way to relax and gear up for the afternoon part of the tour (to the churches). The AC on the bus to the churches was dismal. Overall a great tour to see as much as you can in 1 day! Would definitely recommend it. Great value for the money.

With five million visitors a year the "skip the line" tour provides more time to view and an informed guide provides the interpretive information to appreciate the vast collection of art in the Vatican Museums. Keep in mind that visitors are not permitted in much of Vatican City so you will not see the gardens and other areas reserved for Vatican residents and visiting dignitaries. Our guide had an art history degree and was able to provide good information about what we saw.

The Vatican tour is a must. Our guide for the morning tour was incredible. Her knowledge of the Vatican art and museum treasures seemed to be quite extensive and she made sure that we had time to really enjoy the Vatican. While others were standing in long lines, we were enjoying the education we received from our guide. The afternoon tour of 3 basilicas was a treat. Our tour group was combined with another group on one bus and each of the 2 guides took special care in pointing out all the sights that were along the way to each church. Both girls were very knowledgable and made the tour alot of fun. The Vatican Tour is very special, we were not disappointed.

Vatican treasures in their artistic and historic context were wonderfully demonstrated and explained by Elena. Without her guidance, these acres of magnificent works would have retained their awe but lost their meaning for me. As a guide, my teenage children and I found Elena engaging, informative and very clear with all information and directions.
Our visit to the Vatican satellite churches in the afternoon was a different take on a similar theme and so very interesting as well. The churches of San Paolo, the San Giovannis and Santa Maria Majore each have a story to tell that is related to yet distinct from that of the Vatican itself. My children and I would not have discovered that story had we not been on this tour. Annie was an enthusiastic, willing and well informed guide in the truest sense of that word.
Both leaders had a sensitivity to the needs of the group for breaks, changes of pace, and to ask questions. Thanks Elena and Annie.
Viator, we'll meet again...

The tour was really good. You do really skip a line of about a million people. We got the owner of the company as our guide and he was very professional and very knowledgeable. I would recommend these guys anytime.

My tour with Dark Roman Tours was fantastic. It was the best idea I had during my trip. A very well informed art historian explaining everything as we walked through and not having to wait for lines and tickets was fantastic! Thank you again!

Five stars; however, the whole day was something of a challenge in August. Had we registered more clearly that the tour moved on from the Vatican Palace in the afternoon we might have split the experience over two days. Morning was, inevitably, rushed but the range of art - classical and more modern, in the palace was astonishing and that was before the Sistine Chapel! Knowledgeable and friendly guides (morning and afternoon) added to the wealth of the expeience.

Excellent!! well worth doing the full one day tour. you get to visit 3 of the most important churches. st peters, st pauls, st johns and st marys, and of course the holy steps. wow. St peters and the vatican tour we did in the morning and our guide was Elena. a very good guide and very informative, however she did speak a little quiet and although you are given ear pieces to hear your guide we struggled at times to hear her.
the afternoon tour - WOW!!! we had 2 guides on the bus visiting the other 3 churches. Rebecca and Georgia. Rebecca took our small group and again we were given ear pieces to ensure we heard her at all times. she was amazing, her description of things was fantastic and i have to say i really wish we could have had her for the morning tour as she really caught my concentration for the whole afternoon. she made it so interesting and left me wanting to know more. she put so much information and feeling into her brief it was wonderful. thankyou rebecca the afternoon tour was fantastic
