To be escorted by an archeologist and instructed not only on the global view of the area and the details of current excavations was outstanding! I highly recommend this tour.

Was glad to have a guide to explain what we were looking at. Impressive on its own, but guide help make more of an experience for us.

WOW! Having been to Rome before, this was especially exciting. This special small-group tour not only takes you down to the underground chambers, but also out onto a portion of floor that has been built. and up to the 5th level. What a perspective standing in the arena looking up! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. She discussed how the Colosseum was used (what types of events, how the audience entered and was seated, etc.), and how it worked (yes, there were "elevators" that brought men, animals, props, etc., up through the floor into the arena!). Slaves used a pulley system to work 80 elevators. We also went up to the 5th level . . what a view! From the Colosseum we visited the Forum, the Senate, and the Pallantine Hill. This was a great overview of Ancient Rome. If in Rome, this is a "must do."

This is THE tour to see the Colosseum on. If it only helped you cut the lines it would be great, but the access you get to the Underground Chambers and , Arena floor, and better still, the Upper Tier... you will get the best views of the site plus great views of the city. The tour itself offers a lot of great historical info on the Forum and the site in general. If you are into history, great and even if you are not, you will learn some unexpected things on the tour. Our guide Ilya was AWESOME, had some fun visual aids, and really gave us a sense of the immense history of the site. Highly recommended tour!!

A fascinating trip the guide was excellent and told us many interesting things about the colleseum. A magical trip brought alive by our guide.

Nina was a phenomenal guide, extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We felt blessed to have a true archeologist as our guide to the Colloseum, the Forum, and Palatine Hill. It was a real privilege to go to the underground chambers and to the upper tier where the normal visitors are not allowed. We really got a sense of context and history on this tour and highly recommend it.

Our tour guide Irene was fun and knowledgable. Being able to see the areas of the Colosseum that are normally closed off was an incredible experience. The walk through the Forum and the Palentine were also well done and being able to go back through the forum on your own afterwards was nice.

Really good tour def. worth the money. Only shame was the weather.

Well thought out and informative tour. Perticularly good being in a small group. The tour guide Sabrina was very good and able to answer all questions thrown at her. Only thing that spoiled it was the weather - it poured down on the Forum part of the trip but Sabrina carried on regardless.

This tour was very informative, interesting and thorough. Our guide was delightful, charming and engaging - obviously very interested and educated in the subject matter. I am very impressed with Viator having used it for the first time this trip - for two tours and a ride from the airport to the hotel. Makes traveling independently very easy.

We found this tour to be so informative and interesting. The group was small, so you're not lost in a crowd while learning all about fabulous Ancient Rome! The guide was college educated with an Art degree and very well versed on her subject. This type of tour explains what you're seeing, as opposed to just walking around Rome and wondering what the stories are behind the ruins. Well worth the money

I have been to the Colosseum and Forum many times on my previous trips to Rome. Each of my past visits have been either with a tour guide or alone. I chose this tour as it included both the upper and underground portions of the Colosseum which is new to the public. First, this cannot be missed even if like me you have been here before. Second, you MUST request the fabulous Stella, our Italian tour guide friendly, patient and KNOWLEDGEABLE. My children and I learned more on that tour than ever before. Treat yourself and whoever you are traveling with this tour and don't forget to ask about Stella ..... she gets 10 stars!

This was the only way to get a complete tour of the Colosseum. It did involve a lot of steep steps but it was nicely paced. Many people who did not see the underground chambers and upper tiers regreted it later.

A great tour. My favorite tour in Rome. Got to see everything. The guide was great. Very friendly and informative. A must do tour when in Rome!!!
