My tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi coast was wonderful! I was traveling with my husband and three teenagers. They picked us up at our hotel and we drove to Pompeii in a spacious, air-conditioned bus with two other families. Our tour guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and informative. We were glad we had umbrellas for shade and good walking shoes! From there, we went to Positano and Amalfi and had a truly wonderful day. We had lots of time to eat and shop and enjoy the scenery. The whole day was well orchestrated and there were no problems at all. The guide who was with us throughout the day was funny and pleasant and we all very much enjoyed him. He gave us a good restaurant recommendation for our last night in Rome, and then he and his girlfriend showed up to join us! Overall, I would highly recommend his tour for adults or families with older children. It was fantastic!

We were fortunate to have almost a private tour because there were only four people on this day. Our tour guide was fantastic. He took us to places that we would not have known to go, and added his special touches such as a wonderful lunch looking out at the ocean. Along with that wonderful food and wine, the tour to Pompeii was also wonderful. The tour guide was fabulous and made sure we were able to see the most important things within our time frame. The only thing about the tour is that it should have been made more clear that Pompeii is a walking tour and that it is not something you are just driving by. It was well worth it in the end. We would gladly go on this tour again if ever in Rome or Italy again.

This is a complicated review because we had a disastrous time in our first take and a stupendous time on our second. Viator came though with a 're-do' when our group complained, and they are to be commended for that. We originally went in two vans, one with a driver and a tour guide, the second with a driver who doubled as a guide. Our primary guide was OK on the way there, informative but nothing special. Our trip on the coast to Amalfi was nice but rainy. When we got to Amalfi for the prepaid lunch, the guide had us park in what must have been the furthest parking lot in Amalfi, and despite our requests to be let off closer to the restaurant, made the party walk perhaps half a mile in the pouring rain. Lunch was not very good, and the atmosphere was tense. When we got to Pompeii, we were refused entry because we arrived ten minutes after they let in the last group. It seemed ridiculous that experienced guides couldn't get us there under the wire, but they didn't. In the end we ended up with a tour solely of Pompeii two days later. We had one van, a driver, and a guide. The difference was night and day. These guys knew how to make a group feel good and gave us a wonderful experience. They took us to a hilltop restaurant of their choosing, which turned out to be the best dining experience we had in Italy. We laughed, drank, took pictures, and had a great Pompeii tour, even in the rain. I can't say enough about the second team we had.

This was a wonderful day, we LOVED Positano and the Amalfi Coast. Pompeii was interesting too. The only thing I would complain about was the minivan; it was small, tight, and uncomfortable to sit in for that long. But our driver was wonderful, especially winding around those roads along the cliffs. It was so beautiful!
