Amazing. Best wine and bruschetta we had in Italy. Worth every penny.
It wasn't quite what we expected we ended up at a different winery due to availability. But it was worth it! We ended up being provided an extravagant lunch in their kitchen. The winery was tiny they had found WWII and ancient artifacts in the vinyards. We bought wine and olive oil to bring back.
prompt, on time, friendly. Very pleasant vineyard, explained their business very clearly. very impressed with their presentation.
Couldn't believe the hospitality at Santa Benedetta winery. They made us feel very welcome, like part of the family. Our driver was also excellent. A tour that you should not miss.
This tour was wonderful. Our driver was very nice, arrived completely on time and drive was relaxing.
The winery was very nice, the wine delicious and the bruschetta and the chesse tasting was amazing!!
Definitely recommend doing this tour!!!
This was THE place to go for the taste of wonderful wine locally produced. So much fun and what beautiful views. The 45 min. drive took us to the hills overlooking breathtaking Roma. The tour included visiting the fields where the grapes and olives are grown. Inside we tasted several whites/reds.A+
The wine and winery were excellent as was the view. Great driver and winery host. A super day.
Excellent tour. We were the only ones on tour. Good driver, very knowledgeable guide at the winery. We learned a lot about the wine of the area. The tasting and nibbles were very nice. We bought a bottle to have with our evening meal. Nice walk about the little town. Lovely tour, would recommend.
This amazing trip started out by our tour guide picking us up from the hotel. Bruno was extremely friendly and sociable when driving us around Rome to get to the vineyard. He even went out of his way to show us some points of interest that he felt we needed to see (Basilicas, architecture). We were greeted as soon as we got to the vineyard and instantly felt right at home. We were explained how the wine and oil are produced from when the grapes/olives are planted to when they are processed and fermented. I was not expecting the group to sample 3 different bottles of wine and treated to a homemade Italian lunch. I knew it was a tasting of wine/olive oil/meats/cheeses. I was shocked to find mini pizzas, bruschetta, local meats/cheeses, strawberry's, and desserts. Everything was homemade and strictly delicious. I don't think you can go to Italy and not do something like this. This made my trip and was my favorite thing to do there!
Great tour, end up being private for us. The wine was great. They took the time to explain everything. Nice and clean van picked us up. Only 40 min drive with great views and a quick tour of the town.
Small group, small but very old winery. Wine maker tasted along with us. Accompanying food was great. View was spectacular. Wine was good but nothing to get very excited over. Interestingly one of the locals came while we were there with a empty plastic milk jug and paid to have the jug filled right out of the cask.
Let me explain the 4 stars, especially since 4 stars is a departure from the other 5 star reviews here. First, as others have noted, this is not so much a tour as it is transportation to and from the winery, and the winery experience. Our driver was a very prompt and courteous, just like most Italians. That is one great thing about Italy. Everyone is so gracious.
Gratzi? Prego! Gratzi mille? Preeeegggggoooo! Never gets tired.
Unfortunately, our driver, unlike many Italians, spoke little English, so the drive was just that, a drive. Not a tour of the countryside. Transportation.
Once you get to the winery about 1 hour away that changes. Alberto and his staff his friends and children are fine English speakers. We spent about 2 hours on the grounds, a former convent, enjoying the scenery among the hills on the outskirts of Rome, smelling the smells of spring, and of course tasting wine. Expect much more than any Napa or Sonoma experience. Alberto will explain it all down to the smallest minutiae of the vines, the soil, and his family's history working the vineyards and olive orchards, while you sample full bottles of whites Frascati and reds A blend? Or maybe 100 merlot? Maybe both?, while you eat toasted foccacia drenched in fragrant olive oil, salamis, pecorino romano, bruschetta, etc. etc. etc.
Once the tasting bottles have been emptied, guess what? The standard offer of a mixed case with free shipping, which is good is offered. You have just quaffed at least one full bottle of wine. Are you really going to say no, especially at 1.15 to 1 Euro? I predict you will capitulate, as I did, and look forward to the case arriving at the front door and hope that you are there to receive it so that your spouse, under age children, or drinking age children, don't open it first and deprive you of the experience.
So, that's basically it. Something seemed to be missing. Not sure what. Would I go again? With friends, yes. Ciao!
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour - our tour guide (Bruno) was oustanding (very informative, considerate and enjoyable) and he really made our experience special. We were treated like royalty at the winery and are very glad we included this tour in our vacation!
We loved doing this private tour. Our driver was not so knowledgable and his driving was a little scary....but once we got to Santa Benedetta....TERRIFIC. This vineyard is so lovely and romantic. My husband and I got to stroll thru the olive groves and the vines and it was perfectly charming. The tasting room was really pretty. The food prepared for use, with that fabulous olive oil, was delicious. The wines were also wonderful. The man who toured us around his vineyard and wine making rooms was very nice and answered all our questions. We have been to lots of vineyards around the world and this was one of our favorites!
Although the tour of the winery and the wine tasting experience was very, very good, this tour was different than described. We did not have an English speaking tour guide. We had a driver, who was wonderful, punctual and very nice, but no tour guide so to speak. We feel it was a little overpriced for what you got.
