I have been to the Vatican Museum several time in the past; however, the evening tour was everything promised and more. To see the Courtyard of the Pine cone and the dome of the Cathedral lit up at night was breathtaking. The rooms were not as crowded, especially the Sistine Chapel. Our guide was very knowledgeable and steered us to areas that were not crowded, yet were filled with incredible art and sculpture. During the two hour tour and "free time" I had more than enough time to see some of the rooms I have been unable to visit in the past. I would recommend this tour to any visitor to Rome.
Great guide, essential as the place is enormous and you might not get through it all otherwise.
Our guide was a lovely lady who was able to help us understand the paintings and imagery therein.
Good time of day to go as it was definitely quieter, less hot and more comfortable.
This is a great way to skip the massive lines during the day. Our tour guide was wonderful and had so many great tips for our tour. I really felt like I was able to see the most critical things due to her great knowledge and insight. A beautiful way to see the way St. Peter's is lit up at night. Gorgeous!
This tour was fantastic, I could not b elieve how many pieces of art and relics have been kept and of course the Sistine Chapel was amazing. Well worth the money. The guide was knowledgeable and made it interesting.
Fantastic! Our guide, Darius (?) was perfection - immaculate English, incredible depth of knowledge as an art historian, timed everything just right, gave tips on other places to visit that we're really worthwhile, really sweet to the kids and an obviously lovely person. All that topped by his beautiful smile...
Still pretty crowded in places and quite tiring so wear good shoes as there is a lot of ground covered and don't eat at the ristorante directly opposite the exit - very ordinary food and ask the prices first!
The best way to see the Vatican is at night. They are letting so many people in during the day, I can not imagine what it would be like. Talking to others who did see it during the day, this night tour was the far better experience. Also, It allows for more time to see other things in Rome during the day that are closed in the evening. We enjoyed our guide. She made every effort to help out the group in any way she could.
A very special evening!!! On time departure, knowledgable and personable guide. We had a great time!
Arianna was wonderful as the tour guide. Very informative and honest.
This tour was great. Our guide had a degree in art history in addition to being a certified tour guide (which is a difficult certification to obtain in Italy). We appreciated her knowledge and passion for this beautiful place. I would strongly recommend anyone visiting Rome to take this tour. If you are not in with a tour group you have to wait in line for hours in the sun and then walk shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other people through the museums. Even skipping the line the crowds are unbearable. With this tour we often were the only people in the hallways. We could get good pictures, and appreciate the art. Also, our guide was excellent. Previously I had toured the museums but on this tour we went through the Pope's apartments. They are no longer furnished, but the walls and the stories are stunning. The disadvantage to the night time tour is that you don't get to skip the cue for St. Peters (go around 5:00 and you'll get right in) and a second disadvantage is that the Sistine Chapel is dimly lit so it was harder to appreciate. There is nothing in the world like the Vatican. I'm confident that this tour is the best way to see it.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour which had a good guide. The reduced amount of people was also welcome allowing better views and more time when needed.
