This was a remarkable experience. I am still raving about this to my friends. Am going to do it again the next time I am in Rome. Can't stop talking about it to my friends. Rachel, our guide, is extraordinarily good. She was knowledgeable, attentive, informative and incredibly talented in delivering serious information in a very interesting and easy to understand manner. This is my third time to the Vatican but I learned so much from her. The breakfast was surreal. It was a real treat. Must do in Rome.
This tour experience was amazing. Our guide Rachel was exceptional. We really enjoyed getting up early, getting to the Vatican before daylight and starting our day with breakfast inside the Vatican square. No crowds.
This is the way to go when seeing the Vatican. Breakfast in the Garden and before everyone else. So glad we chose to see it this way. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable.
This is the only way to see the Vatican. We had an early start having to be at the Vatican for 6.30am to go through security. The security guys are brilliant, very smiley and polite. Once through security we were led to breakfast which you have in the grounds of the Vatican itself. The breakfast is gorgeous consisting of juice and coffee, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, yoghurts, fruit, pastries and freshly made pancakes and milk from the Pope's own cow. After breakfast we began the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic and funny. Most of the tour takes place before anyone else is in the Vatican so it is a special experience. The guides enthusiasm was infectious making me want to find out more. The Sistine Chapel is wonderful, even though I am an atheist one couldn't help but be awe struck by the art. We got to see paintings also by Salvador Dali, Matisse and Francis Bacon, all a part of the Pope's collection. When we moved into St Peter's Basilica, the public had been let in and we hit crowds but once inside these thinned out and I was awe struck again by this wonderful building. The tour as a whole was four hours and I could have carried on for another four with the guide that we had. Just brilliant.
Very good tour, the knowledge and friendliness of the tour guide Mikala was excellent, well worth the money
The breakfast aspect of this tour was brilliant! You feel like a real VIP being in the vatican before everyone else and the food was a welcome break from Romes traditional pastry breakfast. Tour guide very knowledgeable!
This tour and breakfast was well worth the money! It was by far the best tour we went on in our 9 week Europe adventure. Our guide Rachel was full of knowledge and information about the Vatican. I would highly recommend jumping onboard this tour. It is definitely worth the early start to the morning!! We loved it :)
I cannot praise this tour enough ; this my 4th visit over many years . Although I'm now in my 76th year , it was not a strain as these sort of popular museum tours always are in the tourist season . This was the exception . In June we were in a heatwave but the early start was a blessing to see Rome fresh , relatively cool and without the hoards . My only criticism is less time could have been set aside for the breakfast , nice as it was and more on the museum contents which was the whole reason for coming .
I'm planning another visit next year and will definitely do this again if I do . Inspiring ; if only the Louvre could take note .
This was amazing ! Being in the Vatican Museum so early was incredible - a nice breakfast in the courtyard with no people! We have been here a number of times but we finally got an opportunity to learn and enjoy the Tapestries and Maps! Rachel our guide was informative and gave us a lot of insight into Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel - and we could see the ceiling and last judgment from a different point of view. Rachel was very knowledgeable and shared stories ! Highly recommend especially if you have been here before because you will see more!
We would rate this tour as one of the best we did through our holidays in Greece and Italy, the guide we had is what made it so good. Her name was Rachael and she is an Irish girl, very passionate in the job she performs. She was like a walking history book, but with plenty of humour and keeping the group with full attention throughout the tour.We would take any tour that she is the guide anytime. Joe and Doris Cortis.
I've had occasion to visit the Vatican before, but this was phenomenal! The group was small as promised, the guide exceptionally knowledgable and the food was excellent too. Well worth the early raising, highly recommend.
