This was the highlight of my visit to Rome. My guide Sylvia was so well informed and could communicate so well it just made the whole tour so memorable. The climb up was not that bad at all. We started at 8 30am thus the crowds weren't that big until towards the end of the tour. The feeling of standing on top of St Peter's overlooking the square is just amazing. If you are not scared of heights this is truly worth it .
We were in Rome Aug 2014. The line ups to almost any thing is long. One of the main benefits of booking a tour is the ability to skip these long (and I mean LONG) line ups which is often in the sun. St Peter's Basilica is just simply on those MUST SEE places in Rome. There is nothing as spectacular as this church. We also walked up the 300 + steps and 1 short elevator ride to the top of the dome. You get some pretty spectacular views of the Vatican Colonnade and the surrounding outside areas. Also you are able to see the mosaics in the dome up close which is worth the price of this tour. You get such a better perspective of the art, mosaics and the size of this place by going up the dome. Highly recommend this tour.
Very good tour guide, she spoke very well English, explained everything in details. I bought my tickets with Viator in advance so I wouldn't have to wait in line so when we got there it went fast we didn't have to wait.
This was very well organized and the tour guide was exceptional. One small note---we were well prepared for the steps and physical activity but I was not warned about the claustrophobia---Very small spaces in the dome during the climb! Spend as much time as you can at the top of the cupola---the views are breath-taking. And the tombs are a must. This is a FULL DAY of sight seeing and learning.
Just great. Met on time at allocated place, skipped the line and had a really good young tour guide (Benjamin) to show us around the dome and then inside the Basilica. It was a great trip and one to be recommended.
We loved this tour. Climbing to the top of the Basilica was awesome. Our tour guide provided a lot of useful information about St Peter's.
The staff at vox mondo were excellent. We were late but thanks to the incredible Isobella we were still able to go on the tour. Emile, our guide, was excellent, patient and understanding of the groups needs. He even understood our Derry accent! I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour.
Great tour , Very well organized the guides meet you at the corner of the square and guide you into st peters basilica to meet your guide , We had the lovely paula who was very informative around the basilica and pointed out many facts that normally you would walk past normally. After a short interval we met Joseph our second guide for the tour of the cupola , You start in a lift to the roof area which itself is amazing walking around the dome and then onto the outside roof area . The cupola view is outstanding after the climb but well worth it !! , After your viewing take the stairs down back to the roof for a drink in the cafe . Brilliant
Climbing the 320 Cupola Stairs and then descending them, was challenging for me, but worth the effort. The view from the top was amazing! Afterwards, the guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica was very informative and well worth the time spent. The tour started at 8:30 am when it wasn't as hot or crowded. A smart idea on Viator's part. This was the first time I used Viator. Congratulations on a job well done! Gale Angela
First rate guide gave us an excellent tour with an expert commentary. It was such a special treat seeing the view from the top of the dome. I've got some lovely photos. I'm really pleased I booked this tour because it gave me certainty of getting in to the Basilica. The last time in Rome I tried to get in on my own but it was impossible and since I probably won't get a third chance I wanted to make sure I got in on this trip. The queues are enormous and skipping the line saved so much time which could be spent inside. Well worth the money.
My husband and I were not able to go all the way to the top, due to some physical limitations, however, we felt that this was a very worthwhile tour. Our tour guide was very informative, as we walked around the base of the tower. We walked out onto the terrace while the rest of our small group went to the top. We went behind the statues that can be seen the the accompanying photo and had an excellent view from there. Once our group rejoined us, we walked down into the Basilica where our tour guide continued to impress us with her knowledge of the Basilica. We remained inside after the end of the tour and participated in the 11AM mass. That was an incredibly moving experience.
This was an excellent tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit St Peter's and who has little knowledge of its history. Antonia, our guide, was excellent. Her english was very good and she was very informative about the Basilica. The visit to the top of the dome is a must and by being with a guide very easy with no queuing.
Well done Antonia.
Excellent tour with Benjamin! He was so welcoming, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I had visited St. Peters Basilica in the past on my own, but seeing it through his knowledgeable eyes brought so much more depth to the experience. Highly recommended!
An excellent tour with a brilliant guide - exactly what we wanted..
