What You Can Expect
You’ll explore the Hobbiton Movie Set and village, where Bilbo Baggins lived and the quest for the ring began. Have your photo taken in front of a hobbit hole or the by the pond while your guide entertains you with the stories and insider dish about filming these Hollywood blockbusters in New Zealand.
As the Hobbiton Movie Set was constructed on a working sheep farm, the regular goings-on of the farm still exist, and you will experience part of its daily life and the have the chance to hand-feed baby lambs.
You don’t have to be a Lord of the Rings movie lover to enjoy this tour with all its wonderful North Island scenery, but if you are, this tour will be all the more special.
Please note: The Hobbiton Movie Set is still in use for an upcoming movie that is in the process of being filmed; because of this, you may be required to sign a confidentiality agreement to not publish any images that you take during your tour.
I give this a 5 for convenience (we were picked up by the bus in Rotorua) and experience for those who really are into the "Shire" as my teenage daughters are. It was nice to have a break from driving ourselves and by being "with the tour" we were kept as a group and on task. If you want to have more freedom, say at the Green Dragon at the end of the tour or the gift shop, drive yourself. As we were traveling to various locals in NZ, this type of tour kept us from eating up too much time that day and giving a good taste of the Shire. Enjoyed the local and the information by our delightful tour guide.
OUTSTANDING - JUST WHAT WE EXPECTED!!!!!!!!!!!!
