What You Can Expect
Next, enjoy a lovely boat ride to the rustic Christmas market of St Wolfgang. Pass by a giant floating lantern and the floodlit Ochsenkreuz altar and experience stunning views of Falkensteinwand mountain. Warm up with some Wolfgangsee Christmas punch in a souvenir cup and receive an Advent candle at this charming market.
Your final stop is St Gilgen, which is most recognizable as the wedding church from The Sound of Music. Here you will have the opportunity to browse traditional seasonal gifts such as gingerbread, handmade toys and Christmas tree ornaments. Your guide also shares information about its connection to the Mozart family.
Throughout your tour, you'll have ample opportunity to purchase gifts for loved ones (and yourself!) at the markets' stalls. After your afternoon visiting three enchanting Christmas markets, return to Salzburg where you will be dropped off at the Mirabellplatz bus terminal. From there, it's easy to continue Christmas shopping on your own or make your way back to your hotel.
We enjoyed this tour as we spent just the right amount of time in each market. Unfortunately the boat was a little delayed but the weather was not good so we didn't miss out too much on the final market. It was a shame that the area had not received any snow but the journey to the markets was still enjoyable especially seeing the Red Bull Offices. The small gifts we received were also nice souvenirs of the tour.
I enjoyed it very much...very refreshing experience...a different approach to a Christmas Markets trip...boat ride, time to explore each Christmas Market village, listen to Christmas Carols played by a brass band , even a small group...very Christmasy!!! Would love to do it again!
