Eagle's Nest Tour from Salzburg

A special kind of adventure awaits you on this excursion to Bavaria - Berchtesgaden. Once you pass the hunting castle, Hellbrunn, you will cross the Austrian-Bavarian border. Continue through the fairytale scenery, along the Konigsee River Valley, through the Bavarian mountains spotted with romantic farmhouses.

Once the tour reaches Obersalzberg the mountain housing, the elevator will take you to Eagle's Nest, so that the highlight of your journey begins. You will be transported to Eagle's Nest by both elevator and bus. The adventurous bus ride along the steep rock walls and deep gorges takes about 20 minutes and provides breathtaking views across the Alps. The buses are equipped with special engines and brakes to enable them to safely transport you through such treacherous terrain.

During the journey you will have a splendid view up to the "Hoher Goll" and across the snowcapped peaks of the Bavarian Mountains. From the 365 foot (111 meter) elevator you will enter Eagle's Nest at an altitude of 5,000 feet (1,524 meters), where you will be able to see the place where Hitler once lived and held meetings with the former Nazi party.

On the way down contented faces are proof of a successful excursion, with many guests returning again and again to Eagle's Nest. Afterwards you have the chance to regain your strength with some Bavarian specialties.

A beautiful view from the top and a little place of history, pity that there wasn't any tours for people to walk down from the top to the bus place . that would be an interesting morning or afternoon walk
