This was a great tour, the Salt Mines were just great a lot of information and fun. The Austrian lakes are wonderful got great pitchers of the lakes. The boat ride was a great way to see lake Wolfgang, the tour guide was wonderful he kept us laughing. I would recommend this tour to everybody. Everything was timed just right, enough time for lunch and walking around.
Our guide on the bus, Walter was very funny and informative the company is organized and efficient the salt mines are great for family's or those that are interested in the mining process our guide within the actual mine was very considerate and making sure that everyone was calm and comfortable
We visited a 450 year old salt mine below Obersalzburg, which was quite an experience. Next we went to Berchtesgaden, a rather picturesque Bavarian village where we spent a short amount of time. Gelato ( for 1 euro) was delicious! Then we went on a cruise on Lake Wolfgang and spent time in the village of Wolfgangsee.
This was a really great way to spend the day. Half the day at the Salt Mines and half the day in the mountains and lake districts with an hour break for lunch in Salzburg. The Salt Mine tour is very informative and fun as you have to take a speedy open train down some dark tunnels then a long wooden slide even deeper into the mines. Headsets are provided for translating the tour guide's information. The entire process is reviewed as to how salt is mined and prepared for use. The exhibits are very well done using great graphics and high technology. There is even a short boat ride across an underground lake that is all lit up to demonstrate salt crystals. Very cool. This is such a great outing and appealing to adults and kids. Highly recommend this tour.
Woohoo! Take a ride down into the mysterious Salt Mines of Salzburg and learn about the beautiful mines and the colorful history of the Salt Mines. There, you get to ride a train that takes you into the depths of the Salt Mines and look at all the useful inventions miners used long ago. In addition, you get an audio recording that guides you through the mines. There are no photos or videos allowed in the mines, but you get your picture taken three times, before, during, and after the tour. You can buy these pictures for 5 or more Euros, but it isn't recommended; the price isn't reasonable. But there's a twist. Whether you're by yourself or alone, there are two slides that you have to slide down in order to get to an area where the bus can't reach.
After the tour, you get driven to the mountains where you can enjoy the beautiful views and take amazing pictures featuring the view. The tour guide, Helen, we had on this tour was very helpful and kind. People of all ages would enjoy this tour. Overall, this is a great tour.
Very nice scenery and the tour guide is very helpful. Salt Mines is a place you should go. My son and wife really enjoyed it.
Fantastic tour! Our guide, Walder, was knowledgable about the area and so friendly! The salt mines were a great experience - slipping down the slides was a lot of fun! The mountains and lakes in the afternoon were spectacularly beautiful and Lake Wolfgangsee was a perfect finish. Highly recommended!
Excellent, good value for money, thoroughly enjoyed the mine it's certainly a little different from the run of the mill tours.
Salt mine tour was fun and informative. The Austrian lakes are very scenic and well worth visiting although we did get caught in a torrential downpour at one point- which in itself was a great experience.
very pleasant and quiet tour, the view from the lake is very nice and the cities that we saw were very cute
Our guides were (different guides for morning and afternoon tour) friendly. Salt Mine tour in the morning was very fun! The mine's display of information was impressive. I particularly liked the part when we took a boat across the salt mine lake.
The second part of our tour-lakes and mountains was good as well. Our tour guide gave a lot of explanation and stories. The sceneries were breathtaking. However, in the Highlights of this tour stated "Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Wolfgang to the picturesque village of St Gilgen". But there was no boat ride..... I was very disappointed with this. I asked the guide but I couldn't catch clearly what he was saying and I didn't pursue the matter. Probably due to different season or something, hence we were brought to a cafe for free coffee and cakes. But we did see people taking boats across the lakes..... If this is not included due to different season, I'd appreciate if we were told before hand. I was very disappointed that there was no boat ride across the lake, otherwise I would give this 5 stars.
Very unique tour with a lot of useful information to be learnt plus a train and boat ride thrown in.
The salt mines tour was well set up and we enjoyed it. The lakes were lovely and it was a good tour.
The Salt mines tour was good and informative. The Lakes and Mountains tour was not very infomrative and we didnt get to see as much as we had hoped to and had heard of about Salzburg Lakes District
