Great tour of the Salt Mines and Sound of Music tour. Would recommend this trip. Tour guide was very nice and informative.
While the tour took up the entire day it is completely worth it. The Sound of Music tour was fun and a great tour for sightseeing. However, the salt mines tour was spectacular. Our tour guide was fun and took care of us. The salt mines themselves were something that everyone should do if you have the opportunity. I had an amazing time and would highly recommend it!
Took tour on Dec 26th. Nobody dragged on this tour. We were very excited. And Natasha the tour guide for SOM was funny, informative and has a great "singing" voice too. Getting in and off the decorated bus to see lots of the locations filmed. Going to the wedding church was beautiful. With time enough to stop in local corner cafe for coffee and desert! Christmas time it was beautifully decorated everywhere.
At end of tour you are pointed in the right direction to go explore the area/steps where the kids and Maria
jumped on the steps! Go and see the fountain and try jumping backwards!
If you didn't know the words to some of the songs before you will have them In your head the remainder of the vacation after the tour!
SALT MINE TOUR was in the afternoon. Fabulous! Changing into authentic miners clothes, taking and train deep into the mine...and the slide! Wow. Great time.
Stop in village on way home for yummy dinner was the cap to a perfect day. Just exactly what we expected with a few welcomed surprises. Everyone at Viatour is terrific. Guides really love their jobs
Are well informed and excited to share their stories and You Bus driver amazing- shares his RedBull supply with you too if you want!
Making memories is what vacations us all about and our family has terrific ones From Salzburg!
Tour guides were personable and extremely knowledgable about the history of Austria. Throughly enjoyed both tours even on a rainy day!!!
An amazing way to see Salzburg in a short amount of time! We were only there two nights and we felt that these two tours were a great way to see the city and surrounding areas. It's a LOT to do in one day so make sure to rest up the night before.
The salt mine tour was a bit cheesy/touristy but regardless we really loved the wooden slides and spectacular boat ride. Heads up that they don't let you take pictures whatsoever. The little town we stopped in called Berchtesgaden was quaint and beautiful. I recommend walking around and making a quick pit stop for apfelstrudel!
Even if you don't know much about the movie, I would still highly recommend the Sound of Music tour for the beautiful scenery. If you DO love the movie, this is a MUST SEE! You will love the structure of the tour, the history of the locations and of course the singing aboard the bus. We loved our tour guide, too!
Absolutely spectacular! The stunning beauty of the alps, the local villages and the excitement of the salt mines. But the biggest joy was the sound of music tout with our excellent and witty tour guide Naomi, who was wonderful and made memories to last a lifetime!
This tour was excellent. I enjoyed both parts of the tour and thought the guides did an excellent job. Although, during the Sound of Music tour, we did not need an hour to shop, most of the stores were closed and it was too cold to walk around outside. It felt like were we all encouraged to go eat at the one small cafe.
It was a fantastic day. Guides were terrific and entertaining. Would highly recommend it!
To begin with the end, the full day combined tour was well worth the money.
I lived in Munich for several years and have been to every tourist attraction multiple times as I would have visitors over the years. Finally, I took a course to become a tour guide and among the places I would take bus loads of Americans was to Salzburg. This trip, I was traveling with my niece who was seeing the area for the first time. I got to revisit through her eyes!
The tour was easy to find and the people whose responsibility it was to get us all on the correct buses were wonderful.
The Salt Mine tour itself began on time and the guide, Andre, was very entertaining, courteous, and watching out for our best interests every minute of our time. Andre told the right amount of stories infused with his humor. He engaged his audience, answered questions with ease and, in general, made each guest feel special.
The second part of our tour was the sound of Music. Sadly, I forget our guide's name, but I can honestly report that he too was humorous and regaled us with wonderful stories about the movie and the real life family. The entire tour was fabulous.
Given the opportunity, I will definitely take more tours with Viator!
We thoroughly enjoyed the salt mines. Kids loved the slide into the mines. Sound of music was wonderful for adults who know the scenes. Tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Overall salzburg is an amazingly beautiful city- well worth the tours
The tour was wonderful. We left on time from the train station. Jeff our tour guide was professional, amusing, informative and kept us all together and on time. The best thing about the tour was the beauty of Bavaria and the castle. Stunning. One suggestion, if you are over 50, consider taking the bus up to the top of the hill. The walk is a stress test. Nice job!
Two Great half Day trips with a stop for lunch in the middle. Well worth the time and money
The weather was not friendly. It was raining. We were still able to see most of the location sites of the movie.
Salt Mines was great. It was full of fun and great experience to slide down in miner's outfit.
