Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour plus Bay Cruise. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
The first stop on the tour is on a mountain from which you can have your picture taken 'in front' of the Golden Gate Bridge. Moving on to Muir Woods, you pass through the beautiful hilly countryside while wondering how people can manage to build homes on the sides of mountains. The Redwoods are absolutely breathtaking. You are able to walk on trails at ground level or venture up into the hills while absorbing all of the natural surroundings. Take your time to snap tons of pictures in front of the giants, and even stop for a pose inside one of the Redwoods, but don't walk off the trails.
Sausalito is perfect for those who enjoy small cafes, boutiques and art galleries. The food is wonderful and you have a great view of the Bay while sitting outside for lunch or a cup of coffee. The Bay Cruise takes travelers on an audio tour while circling Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. From the boat, tour-goers can enjoy views of the city sky-line, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Presidio, etc. It can get chilly on the water so be sure to bring an extra layer. Once the Bay Cruise is over, take the time to walk around Fisherman's Wharf and do some shopping or stop for some soup or chili in a sourdough bread bowl at Boudin's. San Francisco is a great city with tons of sights, shopping and great restaurants. As an aside also make some time to visit wine country!
Excellent tour. The driver Troy is the best.
My only complain is we didn't have enough time in Muir Woods. We have to run to catch our bus :)
As always, Viator tours, are well organised and planned. Unfortunately, I cannot rate Muir Woods as we never made it there due to the US government shutdown. The alternative trip to mill valley was good but did not have the impact that Muir woods would have had. The following visit yo Sausalito and the bay Cruise were fantastic. Great tour guide and lovely area. The shut down was not the fault of Viatour and they compensated as best they could. I will continue to recommend them.
Muir woods was very beautiful and serene, Sausalito was lovely but only had half an hour to have lunch etc , not enough time to look around at this famous place as it looked very interesting.
Very good trip bus driver Archie good and informative would recommend
The tour was well worth the cost as the bus driver was informative and both stops were great. The time allocated in Sausalito - 1 hour was too short as by the time you get there that does not leave enough time to eat and see any sights. You kind of have to decide which you want to do. The Bay cruise was good also. Try and get up toward the bow of the ship (but dress warmly - very windy). This way you will have a good view regardless of whether points of interest are off the port or starboard side of the ship. You will still be able to hear the recorded info being played.
nice park, driver had good information 1 hour is not enough time to explore area but it does give you a good idea as to weather you want to go on your own time.
Muir woods was amazing. Wish we had a little more time in Sausalito. The bay cruise was very good . Best view of the Golden Gate Bridge!
Lovely day in the woods, bus driver Kenneth was informative and great fun.
We loved this tour! The driver was very informative and kind pointing out all the landmarks and giving their history. The only negative is not having enough time to explore Sausalito!
This is a great half day tour if your time is limited. The muir woods are amazing, wish we got more time there. I would recommend when you get to Sausalito you don't go back on the bus and take some time and go back on the ferry, its makes a relaxing afternoon with great scenery.
Muir Woods was awesome, but Sausalito was a bit of a let down. All we had time for was a quick bite to eat. There was no actual tour of Sausalito.....just a bit of a drive through. The Bay Cruise was good, boat was clean and crew were professional.
