What You Can Expect

Napa and Sonoma Wine Country Tour

Napa Valley, Califormia

Let your guide handle the driving and relax as you sip your way through California’s wine country! After morning pickup at your San Francisco hotel, settle into a luxury coach equipped with onboard amenities including a restroom, reclining seats and Wi-Fi. Hear tales of Spanish missionaries and Gold Rush fortune seekers from your guide as you cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge and through the rolling green hills and pastures of Sonoma Valley.

Your first stop is the family-run Nicholson Ranch Winery, a villa-like estate nestled in the southern foothills of Sonoma. Taste fantastic chardonnay, pinot noir and merlot varietals while savoring views of gently sloping vineyards from the patio. Continue on to the world-famous Napa Valley for a tour and tasting at Madonna Estate, a family-run winery that produces organic wines in the acclaimed Carneros winemaking region.

Indulge your appetite with a stop for lunch in Napa’s charmingly chic town of Yountville (own expense). Choose from Michelin-starred restaurants, casual bistros or picnic provision spots, and enjoy free time to browse specialty shops like Kollar Chocolates, local art galleries and the historic V Marketplace.

Next, it’s time for more wine at Sutter Home, your final stop of the day. Sip different varietals in the tasting room while learning how this Napa Valley classic grew from a small, family-run operation in the late 1800s to one of the most recognized winemaking names in the United States.

Back on the coach, savor the late afternoon sun and your wine-induced glow on the return drive to San Francisco, where your tour concludes with hotel drop-off.

Hop aboard a luxury coach at your San Francisco hotel in the morning and relax on a scenic drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Savor the last views of San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz before making your way north to wine country. Your coach comes with tons of amenities including a restroom, reclining seats and Wi-Fi, ensuring the most comfortable ride possible. Throughout your tour, your expert guide will teach you about the region’s winemaking history, from the early Spanish missionaries who brought grapevines from Europe to the Forty-Niners who served wines in their saloons.

When you reach Sonoma Valley, your first stop is Nicholson Ranch Winery, whose vineyards are planted in one of the world's most prized grape-growing regions. This family-owned artisan winery produces premium grapes for chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot and Syrah, which you'll taste during your visit.

Continue driving to Napa Valley to visit Madonna Estate, located in the world-renowned Carneros region. During your tour and tasting, learn about why this family-owned winery uses organic farming methods and combines traditional and modern winemaking techniques.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, make your way to the charming yet sophisticated town of Yountville for lunch. This gem in the middle of Napa Valley is filled with a myriad of Michelin-star restaurants, including Thomas Keller's world-famous The French Laundry.

You’ll have plenty of free time to explore Yountville at your own leisure and expense. Grab a pastry or baguette from Bouchon Bakery, have a sandwich and glass of wine at a sun-bathed picnic table, and satisfy your sweet tooth with a chocolate tasting at Kollar Chocolates. Don't miss V Marketplace, once known at Vintage 1870 -- a historic, 140 year-old Groezinger Winery complex home to countless specialty boutiques, galleries, restaurants and a wine-tasting cellar.

Hop back on the coach and continue to Sutter Home in Napa, your last stop of the day. Established in the late 1800s, this famous winery has become a household name for its white zinfandels. Learn how it has become the second-largest independent, family-run winery in the US!

After your last tasting, settle into your seat on the coach and unwind as you enjoy a scenic drive through wine country back to San Francisco.

Please note: Winery locations and itinerary may change due to traffic or a previously booked special event at the location.

Fantastic tour, lots of wine tastings at 3 wineries, the last winery we visited had 5 wines to taste! Our driver/tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. If you take this tour, when it stops for lunch in Yountville, make sure you go to the Bistro Jeanty and have the French Onion Soup, then to the Bouchon Bakery for some delicious pastries, both places recommended by our tour guide.

This tour is very good value for the price.

The Cline Family Winery was my absolute favorite... I could have spent the entire day there... Loved it!
The Madonna Winery was my second favorite, really loved touring the barrel room and bottling room... and they sold items for kids in their store... very cool.
The Andretti Winery was just ok as we got off on the wrong foot with the winery, and he just was difficult.... But at the end of the day... I purchased 12 bottles of wine and enjoyed every minute out in the fields learning about wine...

I had this wine tour with my mom. It was a quite good experience to visit NAPA wineries in SF and tasted white and red wines there. I would like to recommend this wind tour to people who are interested in wine and visit in SF. Also, the tour driver was so nice and informative. Thank you! :

Excellent tour and highly recommended. Greg our coach driver was fantastic - very knowledgeable providing superb local history and also very fun, made me laugh lots. Easy pick up and drop off from our hotel, fantastic day out of SF and was certainly the highlight of our trip. We didn't particularly rate the wine tastings at Napa Cellars as they didn't explain much about the wine/grape variety. The best one was Andredi Estate set in beautiful grounds and with a wine educator that was very informative and friendly. Madonna Estates was ok, they showed us how to tell a good wine and some of the production process. We stopped off for lunch in a little town and had an hour to enjoy. Definitely recommend doing this tour!
