Driver gave us all kinds of information along our route. Wineries chosen were top notch!
I'm not a wine enthusiast, but the driver, hosts and even fellow riders were most welcoming and informative on the whole experience. I was glad to take the bus ride out there and experience some California sunshine (as this was in Sept so the bay was chilly and cloudy). Even solo, a great time.
(1) For some reason I "missed" my reservation on July 24th, 2013, Viator was so nice to offer me another tour on Aug 24th 2013 for free.
(2) My friend and I really enjoyed the tour. The length of the tour was just right. People were knowledgeable and friendly. The views out there were beautiful.
Fantastic. Wine lovers, this tour is a must. We had such a great time. The smaller wineries are great.
The Napa and Sonoma Wine Country Tour is excellent and was a memorable experience for us. We had 80 degrees of heat inland that day in September, but were perfectly comfortable on the air conditioned coach. The route to Sonoma and Napa takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge so plenty of chance to see San Francisco cityscape from the coach. At the first vineyard visited in Sonoma, we tasted two "flights" (tastings) a red and white wine served outside in the garden area by a small lake. This vineyard had put it's best wines for competition entry and had won many prizes. A delightful location and access was available to all areas of the ranch here, which was great. The second vineyard, Madonna, was where they made organic wines and is the second oldest family vineyard in the Sonoma area. Here we had a tour of the winery and saw the oak casks storage area where Maurice presented the history of the vineyard, how wine is made here and a beginners guide to tasting. He was superb and his experiences and verbal presentation made the visit here very memorable. Three flights tasted here and the quality of this wine was excellent. Buy your bottles here to drink on your holiday or take home. They cost a little more than supermarket table wines, but they are organic and unique to taste. They are some of the best wines available in the area, and they deliver cases in USA too. Then the tour takes you on to Napa Valley where we stopped for lunch in a great small town, then onto Sutter Hill Estate where we tasted two special reserve flights and then had the opportunity for three more flights from a selection of about 8 different wines! A well stocked gift shop gives you the opportunity to buy souvenirs and more wine, of course, some of which is not available in the high street supermarkets carrying the Sutter Hill brand. So 10 flights (tastings) included, 3 vineyards visited, time for lunch, wine and souvenirs. One of the highlights of our trip, if you love wine, take the tour!
Excellent tour. The 3 winery were all different but all good in there own way. My favourite was Sutter home. Yountville the place you stop for lunch is a cute and has some yummy places to eat.
We enjoyed and appreciated our driver, Gordy, as well as learning a lot during our visits to the wineries of Napa and Sonoma. We had an excellent time and will treasure our memory of a wonderful day.
very nice scenery and locations. would like to have seen additional wineries, tour guides very good
The wine was so tasty, the driver was friendly, it was a great tour!
Absolutely loved Gordy our driver!! He was very knowledgable, funny, and nice!! Would highly recommend this tour and if I'm in the area again I would do it again!!
This was a great tour. We saw three very different vineyards which varied in size. The driver was full of anecdotes and local knowledge. We stopped at a lovely little place for lunch. Would definitely recommend, only minor point is that I wish I hadn't left it to the last place to buy wine!
I and my wife took this trip with Viator and we loved it. Gordy, the driver (Hope I have his name right) was fantastic. Very knowledgable and helpful. We learnt a lot from him on this trip. The wineries visited on this trip were very good and offered a great experience with the exception of one. "Nicholson Ranch Winery".
I think one of the owners who gave the tour of this winery, Deepak Gulrajani was extremely rude, with a very arrogant attitude. My wife and I were so offended with his behaviour that we did not even sample his wine, even though we had already paid for it. We felt that Deepak singled us out in the group and for this atrocious behavior. My guess is that we are Asian Indians and he has some dislike for people with Indian origin. I think he forgot to look in the mirror in the morning..Cause he is an Asian Indian as well. What hypocrisy! He might not have meant it but in our minds we felt were subjected to racism. I hope he is a better man for his sake..
The tour was very well planned. The bus was very comfortable with a very knowledgeable driver who also acted as the tour guide. He was a friendly and jolly person. The wineries were well chosen and the tasting sessions were very professionally conducted. A tour worth cherishing.
