Alcatraz was really interesting to see, I've been in California my whole life but this was my first time out there. At first the GoCars seemed a little silly but are really fun. Spend the extra $10 an hour for the 150cc, we had to push once and slow up hills.
My wife and I enjoyed the experience tremendously. Weather was great, car was cool and the sights outstanding. We both recommend using your service and will use it again next time we are in San Francisco.
Fantastic way to see the city and great fun too! Everyone seems to be looking at you with envy wishing they'd seen them and booked them. Motorists were very courteous which was re-assuring given the size difference between this and the other vehicles. As for Alcatraz, the audio tour is a must and quite an impressive place. must see!
Loved this trip! The go car was so much fun...would highly reccomend to anyone!
This tour was great. We spent the morning at Alcatraz and the afternoon being guided around San Francisco in the Go Car. Great fun driving down Lombard Street! This tour was an excellent way to explore the City.
An excellent way to see the city, and the tour to alcatraz was great too.
The Go Cars were so much fun and Alkatraz was really interesting. Easy to organise on the day.
LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!! We got the only RED go-car on the lot! Easy to drive, the GPS guided tour was great! So much fun driving down lombard street - really had a great time! I highly recommend this tour!
Mid week no line ups. If you call ahead to confirm you can get in right away. Fun ride. Wouldn't pick up down town. Warf is easier driving. Wish we would have stopped more.
Better than a bus tour.
Everyone who has a driving licence should do this! This activity is so well organised, from the friendly, helpful staff to the superb GPS directions in the car. You really can't go wrong, also it's good value.
This is a great tour to do and the gocar organisation is very accommodating they changed our booking to the next day so fit with the alcatraz ferry. I would highly recommend this tour.
Alcatraz was really interesting, a volunteer tour guide took us up to the prison, telling us all the history of the island and the part it played in the civil war pre federal prison. I highly recommend doing this if you get the opportunity. Unfortunately, we never made it to the GoCar tour but it looks like alot of fun.
Go Cars tour is really good, but there should be more access to the GPS. It guide us over San Francisco, but sometime it is difficult to hear due to outside noise, and GPS is not accessible to repeat instructions. Alcatraz Tour is excellent all the way.
Good fun. Wished we could have have taken the 3 hour tour. Would do it again
Was very good and the go cars were alot of fun. Would reccomend to do, GPS was very clear and easy to follow. Alcatraz was amazing.
So easy to pick up tickets and schedule tours. Did the Go Car in the morning, I would recommend asking for a newer, faster model. Unfortunately we got an old one, and after 3 hours (we wanted to see more so we stayed an extra hour) my hands were cramping up from the handles (its like a motorcycle). My boyfriend had to get out of the car while going up hill to see Lombard street because it couldn't handle all the weight. Plan on switching drivers if you can, we couldnt because these things are not made for tall people and he is 6'6". These cars are so fun, allowing you to see San Francisco at your leisure and offering you options through the self-guided gps.She gives you a nice history and descritption of things you are passing by or visiting, however try to stay on the path or you will lose her and it takes forever for her to pick up the signal again. Alcatraz was breathtaking and wonderful! You need about 2 horus on the island to really appreciate it, so plan accordingly. Great deal!
This was so much fun! We had a blast driving all over San Fran andthe Gps guide was really helpful and informative. Would definately do it again!
Bought the San Francisco Combo because the ferry to Alcatraz was sold out for the day we wanted to go. Tickets for the ferry were waiting for us at the will call window as promised. Had a great time at Alcatraz. Spent a couple hours there, got back to Fisherman's Wharf to have lunch, then picked up the GPS-guided GoCar.
The GoCar was fun, but I would definitely recommend upgrading to the 150cc model. The voucher you get when you buy the combo is for 100, which is basically the 50cc model for two hours only. I believe they said the 150cc model was 10 more per hour, and in hindsight I should have spent the extra 20 as my passenger had to push us to get restarted after getting stopped at a stop sign while on a hill.
It was still alot of fun! You have to wear a helmet and I would recommend sunglasses for eye safety as well since stuff can get blown up from the street. There was only enough space in trunk for about 2 backpacks. It is important to pay attention to the GPS since it doesn't repeat instructions until you take a wrong turn. It is also important to keep an eye on the time. We took the Red Route since it went to the Golden Gate Bridge, but had to take the shortcut option that is offered about 45 minutes into the tour in order to get back to the Beach Street garage before our two hours was up. The short-cut route ended up going by the Palace of Fine Arts which was a very nice surprise and Lombard Street as well! although I heard that street may soon be prohibited from public traffic There is another garage near Union Square that you can also drop off the car at, but at the speed we were going avg. 20mph with the 50cc except when going downhill we wouldn't have gotten there before the two hours were up, and we had plans already. To sum up, I would highly recommend renting a Go Car from Marina and Ray located on Beach St. The staff was very pleasant an helpful, even offering to take a photo. We declined or I would post it. VERY FUN IN GOOD WEATHER!
