We bought 2 day tickets so we could use the bus to visit the sights. This worked very well for us - visited Golden Gate Bridge, Park (both very worthwhile stops) and Chinatown. The buses are frequent so no worries about waiting for long. On second day we stayed on the bus for the whole tour and had an excellent tour guide, Lorna, who was very knowledgeable and really added a personal touch with connection with the city. We can thoroughly recommend this way of getting about the city. Also pre-booked tickets for Alcatraz - good idea to do this well in advance of a visit especially during the summer as the boat gets booked up very quickly.
Great way to see the sights on first arrival in the city when you don't know your way around. Commentary was exceptional and the stops well placed. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see all the major tourist points quickly and easily.
I loved this tour. It is a great way to see the city and all of the interesting things it has to offer. Getting on and off is so easy and you can spend as much time as you want at each location. Then just get back on the bus and see the next great thing. The drivers/guides provide lots of great information about the places throughout the city. So much easier than trying to drive around the city. Well worth the price and highly recommended
Great way to get around the City. We loved San Franciso, so if going there definatley get the HOHO. We stayed at Fisherman's wharf so HOHO was only a block away. Very convenient.
The best way to get an overall feel for the city. We had the 2 day pass which was great. The first day we did most of the stops and the 2nd day we went back and did the rest and repeated some we wanted to go back to. Our car never left the hotel parking lot. Would never want to drive in the city and finding parking would have been impossible. A very relaxing way to tour and the guides were very informative.
Great way to see the city. Informative tour guides. Had to wait at one stop 40 minutes.
No downstairs to our bus and weather was very cold so this is something to be aware of when planning your trip. Despite the cold winds the trip was very enjoyable and the bus driver was a real character so the commentary was really interesting and funny. Plenty of photo opportunities. Great value for money.
It was an inexpensive and practical way to tour San Francisco's highlights when you only have a day or two to do so. Highly recommended!
We had a great driver but unfortunately we had a group of obnoxious people who boarded along with us. Two of the girls sat directly in front of us. The driver was inadvertently enabling their obnoxious behaviour by paying them a little bit of personal attention (asking them questions when microphone was off, having a smoke with them during break etc) so we got off earlier than we had planned. The bus ride itself was great and the driver was good. He provided everyone with a lot of commentary. I found the stop where we were supposed to board (near Macy's) impossible to find as all your directions stated was "across from Macy's". Macy's is huge! Overall, I would recommend it.
Well organised at pick up points, we had two different commentators all very knowledgeable and pointing out place of interest would definitely recommend
The Hop- on and Hop-off tour is the best way to learn and see the city of San Francisco. Our bus driver Willie made our vacation the best and we are still enjoying his stories.
I had the pass for only 1 day. It was my first time in San Francisco and the tour offered a lot of info about the city. The guide was very knowledgeable. The Viator bus was not as crowded as other companies buses so there was no line up where I boarded the double decker. I strongly recommend the tour. Bring some warm clothes since it can be quite cold on the Golden Gate Bridge and Park.
