This was amazing. We had perfect weather. Hot sunny no clouds no fog. City tour guide was funny knowledgeable very nice. Alcatraz was interesting but a lot of walking uphill. Catamaran was my favourite but I don't think it would have been much fun if it was cold and foggy. Helicopter ride was my husbands favourite but we had clear sunny day so the views were quite amazing. Our itinerary said shuttle driver would take us back to Union Square which wasn't quite true
A really fun and whaky city tour was followed by the catarmaran ride; unfortunately they cancelled the America Cup race that was scheduled for the same time due to high winds, but it was still a nice sail around the bay. The following day I visited Alcatraz, which was very interesting. Finally I had an aerial tour of the city is a float plane, which is something I've wanted to fly in for some time. A really great experience.
Everyone involved was excellent. My only complaint would be the amount of people that get crammed into the Urban Safari bus. We were literally sitting on one another's laps. The Safari itself was terrific and the tour guide was funny. His jokes were so lame, that they became funny. They were HORRIBLE. The passengers would literally groan at times which made us laugh even more at one another. Over all the entire land, sea, air and Alcatraz tour was a ten. LOL.
Initially, we were looking for a tour including a visit of Alcatraz. We have found this tour which is a kind of "best of" San Francisco. It was perfect for our 2 days there. On the first day: helicopter tour and catamaran on the bay; both were great activities. On the second day: Alcatraz and Urban Safari Tour by bus; also excellent but a long day (3 hours + 4 hours). The bus tour was a bit too long (going up and down Twin Peaks took almost an hour) and the bus itself is an experience of its own (no windows and strong winds !). The guide on the bus was very good. In the end, my family enjoyed this combo tour a lot. But we have been very lucky with the sunny weather. The same tour with fog and showers may not be that fantastic. The price was reasonable and the organization was friendly and efficient.
I must admit I was a little disappointed to be backed into the corner on this one...I did not realize Alcatraz sold out in the summer and the only way to get a ticket was to purchase this type of package, which was a substantial amount of money. Having said that - this is The only way to see San Francisco for the first time!! It literally covers everything...and the tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable, charismatic, entertaining and fun to be around! It really was an awesome experience...thank you!
Loved every minute of it! The 4 hour tour was great. Our Tour guide, Jodie, was very good. She was very informative and I think we saw every street in San Francisco! Shame we didn't get a print out of the facts as I can't remember them all now! We all enjoyed the trip to Alcatraz. The Audio tour was one of the best we've had.
The second day was wonderful. The sea plane trip was a really great experience. We'd never done that before. It was a shame that it was August and very foggy in the mornings - we weren't expecting that - consequently we couldn't fly over the Golden Gate bridge but we did get close to it. The catamaran was fun a bit chilly but there were coats we could wear whilst on board. It was great to go under the bridge. It felt like we were in San Fran for 4 days not 2 as there was so much to do. So glad this was the only way I could see Alcatraz! I'd left it too late to book Alcatraz separately and this was the only tour I could do it with!
A truly fantastic tour, we enjoyed every minute of it. For me the seaplane was the highlight as I'm a bit of an aviation nut but the rest of it was brilliant as well. We especially enjoyed the Urban Safari in the 'giant zebra' truck - the driver and guide were exceptional hosts and full of interesting information, stories and anecdotes. My only advice for anybody (like us) visiting San Francisco for the first time is that in Summer it isn't going to be warm. Crazy as it sounds, you definitely need a jacket to keep off the chill of the sea fog. Luckily, if you've left home without one, every shop and street vendor seems to sell them and they aren't that expensive. Better still, even if you haven't bought your own, Urban Safari provide jackets and blankets for everybody on the open-air truck. I know it's quite an expensive tour but, as an all round package, I think it was great value and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. 100% satisfied customer!
It was incredible easy to book this tour and upon booking it they contacted us to make arrangements, the safarii city tour was so much fun for my teenagers, with lots of interesting facts and captain o captain made it so fun , alcatraz was so intresting ,the airplane an experience and the boat so relaxing. Everyone was very nice and when we needed information we called the contact number and they answered our questions inmediately. Would do it again definitely
The only thing better than the trip was the communication between the organzier and my party. 6 stars! Very accomodating when I had to change pick up place, etc. Although the trip was advertised as a seaplane ride - in actuality it was a helicopter ride which was kind of short but absolutely great. Weather allowed the pilot to loop underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Wow! Altogether an absolutely pleasant experience. I will be back!
