San Francisco Wine Lovers Minivan Tour

The Wine Lovers' Tour is for lovers of great wine, lovers of beautiful scenery, or people who just want to see where America's most famous wine labels come from. Typically, the guide will take you to both Sonoma and Napa Valleys, and visit from four to six boutique wineries that are less frequently visited by tourists, so you will get more personal attention, and the guide will take requests, within reason and distance constraints, so you can help plan the trip.

On this tour, you'll be able to sample wines from famous grape-growing regions such as Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Yountville, Stags Leap, Los Carneros, Sonoma Valley, Kenwood, and Glen Ellen. The guide will also make sure you have an opportunity to have a delicious meal of "California Cuisine".

A few wineries offer complimentary tastings, but most charge a fee ranging from $5 to $10 (or even higher) and guided winery tours may also cost extra.

Departure Point: Transportation is available from hotels in Fisherman's Wharf or downtown San Francisco. Departure Time: Passengers will be picked up from their hotel between 8:00am and 9:00am, depending on the hotel location.

8:00am - 9:00am Complimentary Pick-up for your Wine Lovers Tour at your San Francisco hotel in downtown or Fisherman's Wharf area.
9:00am - 9:20am

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge into the Marin Headlands, and maybe stop and take a picture if the weather allows it. Otherwise, continue north on and...

9:20am - 10:30am Drive north on US 101 to Wine Country. Listen to your guide give you some interesting stories about the history of wine making in California.

10:30am - 12:00noon Visit a winery or two before lunch! Learn about the wine making process and what makes the California wine country so special.

12:00noon - 1:00pm Eat some lunch! Sample some California Cuisine at one of the wineries or another fine establishment in Napa Valley, or a little bit later in Sonoma.

1:00pm - 4:00pm Depending on what you've done already and where you are, visit 3 or more wineries in Napa or Sonoma.

4:00pm - 4:45pm Make the return trip through scenic Sonoma and Marin Counties.

4:45pm - 5:00pm Take an optional stop in the bayside village of Sausalito and enjoy the view of San Francisco, Alcatraz and the Bay, or take an optional ferry (fare not included) back to San Francisco, landing in either Fisherman's Wharf or at the Ferry Building (and find your own way back to your hotel).

5:00pm - 6:00pm Unless your're already on the Ferry, go back across the Golden Gate Bridge and get dropped off at your San Francisco Hotel.
