Excellent trip. Marine Biologist on boat happy to answer questions and very knowledgeable.
This was terrific! We saw Blue Whales and Humpback whales feeding together! That doesn't happen everyday. Saw Puffins, jelly fish, seals and a rare sea turtle. The guides were amazing! Very knowledgeable and fun. Definitely take something for sea sickness. You do bounce alot out there, but well worth it!
Amazing! We saw 2 blue whales!! The crew was great, very knowledgeable. Definitely the best part of our trip!
Amazing. Its a must while in San Francisco. We are so happy we did this tour its a must, we had an amazing tour, to see whales in there natural environment is an experience we ll never forget we were so lucky to see 5 whales, sea lions, dolphins altogether free in the ocean. We also saw many birds and other animals. Highly recommend this tour.
Great crew, great commentary without overwhelming anyone with info. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guide
Brilliant day even though we did not see any whales there was lots of other exciting stuff and the skipper and guide were brill they did there very best to find a whale for us but it was not to be never mind
What an amazing time. The Captain is passionate about his job and ensuring everyone is taken care of. An seeing the whales is majestic.
And the lady (I forgot her name) who shared her knowledge with us onboard was amazing. The entire crew was the best!!
This was by far one of our most memorable trips taken. The boat and Captain Joe and Naturalist Carol were the one's that made this voyage spectacular. My only recommendation would be to go no later than December to see more whales.
the crew was spectacular! went over and above to make sure all passengers were getting the perfect experience. would surely recommend this to anyone visiting San Francisco.
This trip was amazing. The tour guide and captain were very friendly. We did not expect to see humpbacks whales getting close the boat as they did. Will definitely do this tour again.
Most tours don't guarantee actually seeing a whale, think about Ahab looking for Moby Dick! But this tour, concentrated on being sure we caught sight of a hump back! Not only that, they had a professional ecologist that pointed out all kinds of bird and sea life.
We saw 2 humpback whales breech near our boat, several seals playing off the Farallon Islands, bio-luminescent jellyfish changing color just 10' from our boat, and the never seen Blue-Footed Booby bird nesting on the Farallon Islands. They have only been found in Latin America and other tropical regions but never in the U.S, so the Marine Biologist tour guide was like a kid in a candy store. It was a lot of fun. I do recommend eating and bringing ginger snaps or candies in bulk or Dramamine to prevent having to use the "Ralph Reserve" on the back of the boat, LOL. Fortunately, we planned ahead and did not get sea sick. Enjoy your outing.
Loved the tour. Nice boat, confident captain, great guide, lady (terrible with names, sorry!) You will learn a lot about wildlife of the area, she also has pictures and handouts. Beautiful ride, lots of opportunities to spot wildlife (although with wildlife - you can never guarantee what you might and might not see). We saw some porpoises, 2 whales (well, their fountins and occasionally a fin). Apparently a Great White shark season starts end of September, so there is a chance of spotting a great white shark near the Farallon islands.
Would not recommend this to people prone to sea sickness, you might not enjoy this trip as much, it gets rather choppy as you leave the bay and traverse into the open ocean. Other comments: wear sunscreen, bathrooms may get bad, courtesy of your fellow tourists. Do not stand behind a person who is not feeling well, you might get caught off guard.
Too bad we didn't see whales and weather was not the best but marine biologist, captain and crew were awesome. The biologist kept us informed all the way through and captain was so informative too and motivated the people about to be sick on boat. Awesome job Joe!!!!
