Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour
Get some of the best of Northern California in one day: San Francisco sights, ancient redwoods, and renowned wines.
What You Can Expect
The sights, sounds, and smells of this living museum are sure to reconnect you with a natural world that was almost lost. During your visit, wander along woodsy trails flanked by the ancient redwoods that stand 250 feet tall (76 m). Tread carefully, you might even encounter a crossing banana slug as it oozes to its next destination in an old trunk or among the sword ferns.
The group will reunite before noon and travel to wine country, where you'll spend the afternoon sampling fine Sonoma County wines. Taste a variety of white, red, and dessert wines at wineries such as Homewood, Cline Cellars, and Benziger Family, among others (tasting fees may apply).
Stop for lunch either at a winery or in the historic Sonoma town square. And what's a little wine without cheese? If you head to the town square, you can sample cheeses at Sonoma Jack's Cheese Factory, visit Mission San Francisco de Solano, and peruse the boutique shops along the quaint streets.
On the way back, make a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge for an awe-inspiring view of San Francisco from the Marin Headlands. The tour will end with a hotel drop-off at around 6pm.
This tour was amazing! I would definitely recommend this tour company in the future. The staff, especially Bryan, was a FABULOUS tour guide. He was super knowledgeable and very fun to be around. Viator was so easy to book- no issues whatsoever. Will definitely book with Viator again.
A wonderful day!
This was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide Chris was fantastic. He was very personable. The scenery at the wineries was amazing. The woods were incredible. And we have so many pictures to remember our tour. We made friends with our small group and would recommend this for people of all types
Our driver was so much fun and so knowledgeable. Muir Woods was beautiful, we got there before the crowds arrived and left as the park was beginning to get busy. Sonoma lived up to my expectations. The wineries are more in the nature of a Boutique. We even met the owner of one of our stops Homewood. I highly recommend this tour.
The smaller wineries are more fun than the big ones. I particularly liked the people and products at Homewood.
This was a great tour. I am really glad we choose the small group tour. We had four people in our group and a total of 8 people in our group. Our guide Chris was wonderful. he took us through a lot of history as we went through San Francisco all the may to Muir Woods. Muir Woods was our first spot, and it took our breath away. All we wanted to do was whisper and take in the scenery. After spending time there we then started heading to Sonoma. On our way we stop at our first winery and learn how to actually do a wine tasting. We then drove into the Sonoma for lunch and a looking around town. In town were able to doing another wine tasting and chocolate tasting. When then continued our journey to two other wineries. I have to stay that if we had a choice we would do this winery allover again.
Muir Woods was so beautiful. The Wine Country tour was also wonderful. It was well worth the day. Our tour guide was wonderful. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best trip possible.
Our guide was knowledgeable about SF and other destinations. She was very friendly and eager to accommodate her guests. We were a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed themselves. Would definitely book another excursion with you.
This tour was amazing!
The tour guide was very friendly and informative. The 14 seater Mercedes wagon was very comfortable and we had a great crowd. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge were awesome as was the trip to the Muir Woods. I would have given a 5 star score if the trip had ended after the visit to the Muir Woods. Unfortunately the trip to Sonoma was extremely disappointing and hardly a reflection of one of the great wine regions in the world. The first visit was to the Kaz winery. It was a run down shed with farm equipment corroding in the back yard. We were seated on some weathered wooden tables in the back yard and the owner served us some wines. He told us to pour the wine on the ground if we didn't like it! The second stop was in the town of Sonoma in a wine / linen shop. Apart from 2 parties in our group everyone else didn't even bother tasting wines. The third stop was at the Homewood winery were we sat in the front yard under a tarpaulin. We could taste about 6 wines and were given some short description about the wines by a 20 year old. Once again the winery had no views and absolutely no ambiance whatsoever. For many people in our group it was a once in a lifetime trip to one of the great wine regions of the world. If you expect to get an impression of the Sonoma wine country - then do not go on this tour! Sadly it did not even get close to show casing some of the many great wineries, views, wine tastings that Sonoma has to offer.
