Start your San Jose walking tour at a café in Parque España (Spanish Park), where you’ll meet your guide and relax with a rich cup of morning coffee. Then take a stroll through the park, enjoying views of the Yellow House (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and learning more about the park itself, which is the oldest in the city.

You’ll visit a number of landmarks in the area, including the National Liquor Factory and the Metal Building, two 19th-century landmarks that played an important role in the capital’s history. Your guide shares insight about their importance to San Jose’s citizens before continuing on foot through Parque Nacional (National Park).

Discover more local history here before returning to contemporary life en route to Central Market, a San Jose historical treasure. You’ll find no better place to experience the local cuisine than this market, established in 1882 and full to the brim with typical Costa Rican food and drink. As you explore the labyrinth of culinary choices with your guide by your side, sample local specialties and sip your second Costa Rican coffee of the day.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended April 2014

My buddy and I had a marvelous time with Eric and Carlos. It was like being with friends. I have never learned so much on a walking tour. These guys really knew there stuff. You could feel there passion for their country. Any and every question i asked them was replied with a heart felt answer. I do not know how they do it being on the move every day walking the streets of San Jose with tourist. Eric and Carlos shared their personal life experiences of growing up and living in Costa Rica. They shared stories of the history of the country and stories behind the architecture we viewed. So much to see and experience in San Jose. I would do this tour again just to hang out with my new pals Eric and Carlos. Thank you for making us feel like we were spending time with old friends.
