Awesome tour and operators
Was disappointed with viator as a booking agent because
tour came to pick me up an hour earlier than you told me at 5:30am and viator did not book my campions tour but did confirm and charged him for it so I had to go alone
This trip was amazing! We stopped several times during our trip to see sloths, bananas plantations and other animals. When we got closer to the national park, we boarded to the boat and then we had a pleasant river ride! The stuff was very knowledgeable about things around. We have seen myriads of birds, crocodiles, turtles, Jesus Christ lizards, monkeys, frogs and many many other animals! The surrounding is very beautiful out there. Breakfast and lunch were very good. On overall, I'd give 5 out of 5 stars for this trip!
Loved this tour - even if the turtles had already gone to the ocean a few months ago. The tour company - Jungle Tom Tours was very informative, the sightings where spectacular - I don't know how these people see some of these animals, and the stop for lunch was very good. Tomas and Rosalyn were great guides. I would highly recommend this tour, especially through the Rainforest
On this day was my birthday. Was the best birthday of my live, cause good english speaking guide, making many jokes, but also immense knowledge of the local animals, he stopped everywhere, to show us, many interessting animals. Was a perfect birthday. Five stars are not enough!
A MUST-DO if you want to see beautiful scenery, watch animals in their natural habitat, travel up a river to a small village with a beautiful beach and learn a lot about plants, history, animals, the ecosystem and much more. Frequent stops en route, good food and lots of photo ops. Tomas, operator and owner of Jungle Tom Safaris, who is passionate about his work, is probably the best guide anyone can hope for. I highly recommend this tour.
The tour itself was fantastic. We had a wonderful guide, Mario, and a wonderful driver, Binnie, and they made sure that we saw all the animals, scenery and shared information that was of interest. The park was lovely, the boat ride relaxing and we say sloths, crocodiles, a cayman, monkeys and lots of beautiful birds. Great day!
Booking the tour through Viator was frustrating. We booked online and the confirmation told us to call the local carrier, Grayline, to find out what time they would pick us up. We called, gave the confirmation number, and they immediately told us that there was no availability for the day we booked. The tour had to be rearranged to three days later and there was a risk that we wouldn't be able to go since we had planned our schedule based on the Viator availability. Please make sure your website is up to date so people don't end up disappointed.
This is a MUST tour. You will see a lot of different animals, birds, monkeys and krokodils, and its all just outside your boat.
Guide/Driver Thomas, EXCELLENT!!! he is simply the best!!! Highly recommend this trip, it is a very long day, but wonderful..Thank you Thomas!!!
Fantastic! Our guide was incredible and went out of his way to find wildlife for us to view; he even got up close and took pictures for us if we wanted help.
Although a long trip (ca. 12 h), I loved this trip. The guides were VERY knowledgeable and super friendly. There was lots of wild life to see and even on the way to Tortuguero the guides always were watching out for things to see by the road. They spotted e.g. a sloth just by the road side and gave us all the time we needed to take some pictures and observe. Although many hours a very relaxed trip.
The trip I took was fantastic! The guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much information about Costa Rica. I left feeling like I knew a lot about the country. The food was great, and the experience was stellar. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone!
This tour was great! Very peaceful on the waterways. I wish the walk around the island had been better, but it was pouring (not the tour's fault). I also expected to see turtles, but didn't know they only came out in the early evening. This should have been mentioned in the tour description. Overall, enjoyable. Got some great pics.
Loved the park! Beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. Next time we would stay overnight so we can spend more time exploring the village and nearby areas. Only thing that put a damper on things was our guide Tomas, who started out very good, but towards the end of the tour got a little cranky and he drove like a maniac on our way back.
Hotel pickup was on time (5:45am). The driver/guide was definitely an interesting guy. I learned quite a lot from him, not only about Tortuguero National Park, but about life in general. He had many profound thoughts and observations to share. During the van ride, we saw many diverse regions of Costa Rica. The guide told us a lot about the flora and fauna. We stopped for a delicious breakfast (included). Our visit to the banana plantation and processing plant was a highlight.
We arrived at the boat dock and had a quick break before boarding the river boat. this boat was propane powered as a means to be more environmentally responsible. Along the river the guide pointed out many species of animals that were sighted, including some crocodiles and monkeys. Just before we arrived in the village of Tortuguero, we had a very nice lunch at a very nice restaurant (included). We then re-boarded the boat for a few minutes and arrived in the village. We walked over to the beach. Sand was dark and coarse...not exactly what I was expecting of a Caribbean beach. We strolled through the village for 20 minutes or so before getting back on our river boat. We arrived back at our hotel around 6:30 pm.
