What You Can Expect

Savannah Culinary and Cultural Walking Tour

Savannah Culinary and Cultural Walking Tour

This leisurely 3-hour walking food tour begins on bustling River Street in Savannah’s Historic District, along the Savannah River. After a meet and greet with the guide, it’s time for a flavorful and fun adventure, covering almost 1.5 miles with two 45-minute breaks.

Visit seven specialty food stores and restaurants in the area to sample the fresh flavors of the local cuisine. There’s shrimp and grits, oysters, fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, gourmet honey and artisanal salts. Also, try some Scotch pie, a small, double-crusted meat pie filled with minced mutton or other meat. For dessert, indulge with a cupcake and some sticky toffee pudding, a British delight made of moist sponge cake with finely chopped dates, covered in a toffee sauce and served with vanilla custard or vanilla ice cream. To drink, there’s proper iced tea.

Some of the establishments that may be included on the tour are Savannah Bee Company, Molly MacPherson's Scottish Pub and Grill, the Salt Table and Boar's Head Grill and Tavern.

This tour concludes at the City Market, the commercial and social center of historic Savannah since the early 1700s. Explore this 4-block area of restored warehouses and store fronts adjacent to Ellis Square, perfect for shopping, dining or just relaxing the rest of the day away.

Excellent tour! The tour was thoughtfully planned and flawlessly executed. Our guide, Brandon was humorous and knowledgeable. We walked to various restaurants and pubs while sampling their fare and learning the history of the area along the way. You could that each of the merchants valued the Viator tour group and put on their best presentation for our group.

Country was a wonderful guide - very entertaining and knowledgable. All of the food was delicious and I especially enjoyed the variety of offerings. By the end of the first five courses, we were quite full! The salt and honey tastings were a delightful way to end the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour to a friend.
