What You Can Expect
Depart at 7:45am from Pier 69 in downtown Seattle and cruise through Puget Sound toward the San Juan Islands - Seattle's secret playground! The roomy seats have plenty of leg room for a comfortable trip. Step out on the deck for a breath of fresh air and take in the beautiful views or enjoy an onboard meal basket and beverage at your seat (meals and beverages are not included). On this 3.5-hour cruise, you'll enjoy beautiful island vistas and a multitude of marine wildlife. Upon arrival at your destination you can spend time at the wonderful beaches, shops and other fun attractions.
Upon arrival to the San Juan Islands take a 2.5-hour Whale & Sealife Cruise and continue your cruise through the waters of San Juan Island. This cruise departs Friday Harbor at approximately 11:30am and returns at 2:00pm. This 2.5-hour wildlife adventure is great for viewing orcas and other sea life in their natural habitats. The islands are home to 3 whale families, or pods, that migrate to the island waters for the summer months. You'll then have approximately 2.5 hours to spend in town shopping and sightseeing.
At 4:30pm you'll begin your trip back Seattle on a 3.5-hour cruise though the protected waters of Saratoga Passage and Deception Pass before arrive at Seattle's Pier 69 at approximately 7:15pm.
Please note: Whale sightings are not guaranteed.
Really had a nice time. The sea is calm in the sound, so no motion sickness. The views are great and the crew was knowledgeable about local history and whale behavior. Saw a humpback breach - twice and learned that you can guess where the whales are by the birds behavior - very cool. Friday Harbor was a typical tourist area - cute, great for lunch after whale watching, but I would not have known what to do had we been there much longer. I didn't try the shipboard food, but it seemed adequate.
Tour was great. The boat was comfortable and nice. Best of all, we saw the orcas that we set out to see! Get there early to get the exact seat you want as seating is first come first serve. To speed up the boarding process, print your boarding pass ahead of time, not just your ticket confirmation. I thought I would be boarding with the confirmation I received, but had to wait in line to get a boarding pass at the terminal.
Wonderful! Enjoyed the boat ride too! My husband and I bought snacks and played cards. The island is so peaceful. Just like in the movies!
Whales were so close! One whale swam right next to our boat. We saw three pods, approx. 60 whales!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. AND we saw Orcas! Many Orcas. It was a LONG day, and colder than I expected of course I wanted to be on the top deck the entire time. Having time to explore Friday Harbor was an added plus. For the price of the tour, it is the BARGAIN of our Seattle trip! When I come back to the area, I will be doing it again, for sure!
The naturist on the boat was very helpful. Though we did not see Orca whales, we did end up watching a humpback whale do its thing fairly close up. We actually did see a rogue orca pod on the way to the watching grounds. The boat was comfortable and the stop in Friday Harbor was educational.
A wonderful tour! The crew is knowledgeable, and kept us informed us of all whales, sea lions and other interesting sights. It is so fun to sit on top, but bring a heavier jacket and a hood for the winds. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Seattle!
Great trip, on the way back we could see a good view of the mountians.
It was great, they pushed the tour by an hour to make sure we would be able to see the whales, which worked out perfectly.
We enjoyed our Friday harbor and whale watching tour. We saw 3 species of whale! Our naturalist, Justine was most interesting and informative. The clipper had a smooth ride and I loved the upper deck for pictures. Very enjoyable day.
