El Rocio, Donana Natural Park and Matalascanas Beach Day Trip from Seville
When you arrive, hop in a 4WD vehicle for an exciting tour of the park with your guide. Witness a variety of ecosystems as you travel along lagoons, dunes and beaches and through marshlands and forests. Spot abundant wildlife such as birds, reptiles, amphibian and mammals, as well as endangered species such as the Egyptian mongoose.
After your adventure, head to the village of El Rocio, a world-renowned pilgrimage site. Learn how this site dates back to the 13th century and see the Virgin of El Rocío, a small, much-venerated carved wood religious statue.
Next, soak in the beautiful scenery of Matalascañas Beach. Enjoy free time to take a leisurely stroll on the sand and enjoy an authentic Spanish meal (own expense) nearby. Then, relax on the journey back to Seville.

This was an amazing small group trip, enjoyed by all, particularly my adult children. The national park tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and anxious to share his knowledge. We traveled through the mist and partial sun via a Jurassic Park-like four-wheel-drive vehicle, through the sand dunes to see ocean/river and forest, local color with the mussel fishermen and history. We saw lots of different birds and an amazing spider. Definitely off-the-beaten track and a break from city life. If you like the outdoors and are looking for something different, you will enjoy this tour. Our local tour guide was extremely helpful and attentive as well. I would have appreciated a little more background about El Rocio (although most likely, we could have specifically asked for this, but did not).
