Moganshan (Mt Mogan) Reservoir
Day 1: Shanghai - Xiwuli Lodge (L, D)
Private pickup from your Shanghai hotel will take you on a 4-hour (approx.) drive to the Xiwuli Lodge, located in the beautiful bamboo forest of Moganshan (Mt Mogan). After enjoying lunch, available for purchase in the lodge, get fitted for your mountain bike and follow your guide on a cycling tour of Moganshan and the surrounding countryside. Bike on paved roads near the mountain and dirt roads through the lush bamboo forests, on both flat and hilly terrain. Cool down by taking a refreshing dip in a tranquil reservoir deep in the forest.
In the evening, enjoy a barbecue dinner, cooked by the lodge's chef, on the deck overlooking the hills.
Overnight: Xiwuli Lodge near Moganshan
Day 2: Moganshan/Mt Mogan (B, L)
On your second day, your guide will take you on a hike to the peak of Moganshan to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape. First, enjoy a peaceful walk on flat terrain until you reach small local villages, where you’ll hike up stair pathways. Then, get to the core of the hike as you climb man-made steps up the mountain and through the verdant forest.
Along the way, discover the mountain’s rustic charm as you pass shabby villas and museums, picturesque stone pathways, ponds and various pagodas hidden behind thick wooded areas. See several historic buildings including the Mao Museum, reputed to have been a place where Chairman Mao once slept overnight.
Relax and stretch your legs as you enjoy lunch in a small cottage at the top of the mountain. Afterward, your driver will collect your bags from the lodge and take you back to your own hotel in Shanghai.
