It was a wonderful experience! The tour was about 5 hours and it started with Monteriggioni, then wine tasting and at the end San Gimignano. The guide give us a lot of information on the region and the towns we visited.
The only thing we would have preferred was to stay more in San Gimignano we stayed only 1h.
Great tour! Knowledgable tour guide and the best part was I traveled in the off season and was the only one so I recieved a private tour. My tour guide was flexible and gave me plenty of time to take pictures, shop and explore the areas. Highly recommend this tour. I was in italy for three weeks and this was my best tour!
Love this tour for the reason which it gives flexibility for your to explore San Gimignano together with a winery visit. As it's a half day tour, it best fits my tight schedule at siena, which let me to do some sightseeing in the morning. Like the winery visit!
This was a great tour and a great way to get into Tuscany without having to drive yourself into the countryside. There were 3 stops on this trip–the small village of Monteriggioni, San Gimigiano, and Tenuta Torciano Winery. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and shared a lot of great info about the two small towns without it being an overkill (or otherwise boring us to death) and gave us time in each town to explore on our own. I loved being free to roam as I pleased and not having to wait for anyone :) We had about 30 minutes in Monteriggioni, just enough time to walk around the village and up on the walls to take photos of picturesque Tuscany! Trust me, you don't need more than 30 minutes, plus there are two other stops on this tour! We had about an hour in San Gimigiano, which again was plenty of time to grab the World's Best Ice Cream and sit and enjoy the view (again a FABULOUS view of the countryside!). Our last stop was at the winery where we had 8 different tastings (5 wines, 3 oils) along with food to accompany it. Our tasting was guided by one of the family members that owns the farm. I learned so much about wine, pairings, and tastings that I will forever remember and apply in real life! Our host was hilarious to top it all off, and that plus the wine meant that everyone was having a ball! I highly recommend this tour if you want to see more of this gorgeous region but don't want to rent a car.
Brilliant trip. Francesco was great: funny and informative. The content of the trip was better than expected. I would definitely book this trip again but go for the full day one next time
Our guide, Francesco was very knowledgeable and interesting. We even stopped for a fantastic view over the valley when when we were going up to San Gimignano. The wine tasting was a lovely ending to the trip. We even bought some and they are sending it on to us. A lovely relaxed way to view the Chianti region.
This was a good tour. The wine tasting was definitely the highlight. San Gimignano was such a cool town, and we only had 50 minutes to tour it, which seemed so short for such a great city! The tour guide wasn't very talkative during the bus trips, which made it a tad long/boring at those times, but overall a great wine tasting that ended with some wines being shipped home :)
Wahoooooo! So much fun. They were a bit late to pick us up, but other than that our guide Mariano was fantastic. Wish the other people on the tour weren't such prudes, but that has nothing to do with Viator :)
We winded up to Castelina first then off to San Gimiagnano and then finally to the winery, which was one of the best wine tastings i have ever been at. Don't hesitate to book this tour.
Had a wonderful day with the most entertaining of guides.. Was the highlight of our Italy experience and truly worth every cent even for a non wine drinker such as myself... Please give our guide our thanks he was fantastic....
We thank our guide Andrea for beautiful trip. Vine testing is very interesting. Small towns we visited are charming!
One of the highlights of our trip. San Gimignano is breathtaking - the people are so warm and welcoming. A must see! our tour guide, Lucca was knowledgeable and very accommodating. The wine tasting was superb. If you do only one excursion in Tuscany, this is the one! Very good value for money as well.
Such a fun afternoon excursion in a van with Andrea the tour guide, a gentleman from Siena who was friendly and very interested in sharing with us the charms of his home and the beautiful countryside . At first, we stopped for a stroll in a nearby small village within medieval castle walls. Then, we drove on to San Gimignano, a formerly strategic hilly stronghold made famous by the building of brick and stone towers. Both seemed to be places time forgot Our final stopped involved snacks and wine hosted by amiable wine sellers who treated us marvelously. With Andrea's expert driving, we were safely and quite happily returned to Siena! Thanks to all responsible for a terrific tour!
Fabulous day out from Siena! Our guide was personable, knowledgable and very friendly. We had a group of 6, 4 Anglophones and 2 Italians. Both languages were handled perfectly by the guide. Wine tasting included olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting and pecorino cheese. We spent about an hour with the charming wine maker in Castellini in Chianti before proceeding to San Gimingnano.
A great day with our guide. This was my second visit to San Gimignano, but the first with a local guide to show us inside the city walls...was great. Amazing stories, lots of history. And the trip to the Chianti winery...just great. Lots of tasting options...be sure to bring a few euro with you to buy some wine at the store front. You won't be disappointed.
This tour exceeded our expectations--and THEN some! Our tour guide Gi-Gi was splendidly fun and full of knowledge. I feel like a Chianti expert now. The wine tasting was great and the winery was beautiful. He took us to an ancient Etruscan burial structure as well which was a really cool bonus. Gi Gi took us to many different scenic spots for photos along the way and explained all kinds of things about the area, history, legends, how the wine is classified, grown, etc. In San Gimignano, he told us about the history of the town and its strategic importance during the Renaissance, the local important foods and customs, etc. He recommended the gelateria that is supposed to be the best in all of Italy and it was GREAT. At the end of the tour Gi Gi even dropped us off at our hotels!
We were going to take a wine class inside the city of Siena and I am SO GLAD we did this instead.
I highly recommend this tour. I cannot imagine how they can do it for the price charged, but it was one of our best days in Italy.
