Coronet Peak:
Coronet Peak is only 30 minutes from Queenstown, and has hosted many sporting and social events including the Southern Hemisphere's ultimate winter celebration, the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival. It's the South Island's most developed ski area, with more than 690 skiable acres. Access is by a six-seater express chair, express quad, double chair, T-bar, magic carpet and beginner tow.
The Remarkables:
This true alpine experience is only a 50 minute drive from Queenstown township. The skifield is popular with young snowboarders and free-skiers who like to swish across the open-terrain parks and the FIS-specification Parklife Superpipe. You'll find three sunny bowls with almost 545 acres of skiable terrain spread. Three quad chairs, one magic carpet and one beginner tow offer access to the trails and parks.
Cardrona:
A 75-minute drive from Queenstown township, Cardrona is a friendly and relaxed ski and snowboard resort between Queenstown and Wanaka. There are slopes for beginners and intermediates, chutes for more advanced skiers and a park for freestylers. The resort also has the best on-mountain children's facilities in New Zealand.
Treble Cone:
A two-hour drive from Queenstown, at the south-east end of the Southern Alps, Treble Cone has trails to suit all ages and skill levels. There are dedicated slopes for beginners plus long and wide groomed trails for intermediate and advanced skiers.
