What You Can Expect

Antigua Cricket Legends and Stadiums Tour from St John's

Tour Sir Vivian Richards Stadium!

Meet your friendly driver in St John’s and set off in an air-conditioned minibus. En route to Antigua, watch the passing countryside on the way to the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, named after the island’s beloved cricketing son.

When you arrive, meet up with former player Keith Fredericks, aka ‘Freddo,’ for a tour of the facilities that were built in 2007 for the Cricket World Cup. Fredericks, currently the head groundsman over at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG), provides behind-the-scenes insight about the construction of the large stadium.

Continue with Freddo to the defunct Stanford Cricket Ground, a venue that now allows limited access to the public. While there, stroll around its West Indies Cricket Hall of Fame to view the plaques and displays chronicling the Caribbean’s most famous players.

Next visit the revered Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG) to walk around the clubhouse and grounds. Freddo shares lighthearted anecdotes about Antigua’s national stadium, its boisterous crowds, and the performer named Gravy who was an icon of the stadium for years.

Lastly, get ready for a private appearance by one of the West Indies’ cricket legends; it could be Curtly Ambrose, Richie Richardson, Andy Roberts or even Sir Viv Richards! In a 30- to 45-minute session, listen as they share their memories of Test cricket with you and answer your questions. Grab an autograph —perhaps on one of the mini cricket-bats available for purchase— and don’t forget a photo with your hero!

Afterward, rejoin your minibus for your journey back to St John’s.
