What You Can Expect

St Kitts Shore Excursion: ATV Adventure

St Kitts Shore Excursion: ATV Adventure

Spend a few action-packed hours touring the rugged countryside of Saint Kitts by ATV (all-terrain vehicle), enjoying magnificent scenery and a stop at a historic sugar plantation and textile center, during this 3-hour ride. This shore excursion is the perfect blend of adventure, culture and natural scenery during your short stopover on this beautiful Caribbean island.

Begin the trip with a pickup at the cruise ship port in Saint Kitts, continuing to a local ATV shop where you’ll rendezvous with your guide for the day. Get kitted out with a helmet and goggles and listen to a safety briefing and instructions to operate your off-road vehicle. Then hit the throttle and head into the Saint Kitts countryside.

Trace the path of your guide as you start your trip, following a trail that’s been tailored to the experience level of your group. You’ll move more quickly or slowly based on how well the participants are handling the terrain. Riders of all levels of experience are welcome. Kick up a little mud as you wind your way along the rolling trails, zooming along lush sugar cane fields.

As you drive you’ll also pass a historic sugar plantation, at which point your guide will share insights about the history of the island’s sugar industry. Continue riding until you reach the Wingfield Estate, located in the foothills of the island’s central mountain range. This beautiful estate is set among a collection of beautiful gardens which host a wealth of plant life.

Spend some time exploring the estate’s 17th century relics, which were used in the manufacture of refined sugar and rum. Interestingly, the estate is considered the first English settlement in the Caribbean and was owned by an ancestor of US President Thomas Jefferson.

Then motor your way to your last stop at Caribelle Batik, located just next door to Wingfield Estate. This textile center features the work of local artisans, who produce a special fabric called batik (a specially-dyed fabric in colorful patterns). Watch the artisans at work and feel free to purchase a few items.

Following your stop at Caribelle Batik, you’ll make your way back to the ATV shop, where you’ll receive a ride back to the port.

This was an awesome excursion and we had a wonderful time. It is highly recommended if you like riding ATV's. The scenery was beautiful and we rode up to the edge of the mountain. The views itself was so worth it. Being able to ride fast and have fun made our day very enjoyable! I would do this excursion again!

We had a blast! Love driving the ATV. Tour guides were great! Would do it again. Just suggest you wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. The trails get pretty dusty if it hasn't rained recently and can get in your eyes. The tour guide wore a bandanna around his face to keep out the dust. Highly recommended if you like to add some adventure to your life.

4 star rating: Recommended August 2015

This was great, at first we stopped after 5 minutes of driving the things to walk through a place to buy things. Could have done without the stop to shop. but the rest of the time was great, they can only go as fast as the slowest person. The guide and back driver were quite but nice. very safe, and the guy doing the tricks in the last position is fun to watch. atv driving time is about 2 hours, which was perfect.

3 star rating: Worth doing March 2016

all four of us had a good time, The two guides Ivan and Manner were great, making sure we all were in control. My only complaint was we didn't stop at Caribelle Batik and the other group that was in our adventure purchased the tour right at the site and they only paid 75 per person . So I don't know if I should just wait next time
